Greased Awakenings

To celebrate next Sunday's Tony Awards (June 15th 8pm on CBS), here's a post that showcases the enormous talent currently performing on Broadway:

Now why couldn't they make the revival of Grease with the cast of Spring Awakening? THAT would really be a Tony winning show!:

This was part of this years Easter Bonnet competition where all the Broadway shows perform songs (sometimes from each others musicals), make a big Easter Bonnet hat, and raise money for the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids charity.

I particularly liked the Hand Jive portion of the show. Or when Blake Bashoff (Lost) sings about Sandy.

Here's some more clips from this years Easter Bonnet show:

UPDATE: Sadly, the videos were taken down before I could even post this but I'll see what I can find still.

Kelsey Fowler and Alison Horowitz from the Broadway revival of Sunday in the Park with George perform "We Do Not Belong Together"

The cast of The Lion King paradies Legally Blonde with "Oh My God You Guys" in "Legally Black":

The cast of Gypsy with their Little Lamb (No Patti LuPone though, but Laura Benanti is in the hat):

The cast of In The Heights parodies Les Mis with "Un Dia Mas" ("One Day More"):

The cast of Naked Boys Singing singing an Off-Broadway lament that parodies "Sunday" from Sunday in the Park with George:

Here's one from last year that I loved, the cast of Company doing a parody of A Chorus Line:

It's funny you should mention the cast of "Spring Awakening" doing another show. I saw SA at a matinee in July and I loved it. Afterward, I met everyone at the stage door and they were so gracious. I was thinking it would be great to see the same cast do another show. Maybe not "Grease," though!

Well, at least the SA/Grease clip worked, but I really would have liked to see the others. Let me know if you find them!
