Degrassi in Toronto and Hollywood

Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead starts THIS FRIDAY (March 13th 2009) at Six Degrees in Toronto (Yonge and Eligible). It's the unauthorized story of the Peanuts gang all grown up, and half the cast is made up of Degrassi: TNG folks! So for those in Toronto, go get tickets NOW!

The Canadian cast of the play will include Jake Epstein (Craig) as C.B., Adamo Ruggiero (Marco) as Van, Mike Lobel (Jay) as Matt (a grown up Pig Pen), and Paula Brancati (Jane) as Van's Sister.

And back on Degrassi: TNG, Jake and Adamo will be returning as Craig and Marco and other Degrassi kids will be going to Hollywood! (See preview below)

Degrassi: The Next Generation - Heat of the Moment, Jane Says, Part 1 and Part 2 - Eps. 812-813

So before Paula Brancati get's to become a Peanut, she gets to show her dramatic heft here on Degrassi when we find out that Jane was molested as a child by her own father. Or at least we assume she was. And she assumes she was. It's all a little hazy which makes it all suspect yet kind of realistic. We don't know what to trust, and Jane and Lucas seem to be having the same problems too.

Meanwhile, I'm LOVING the new kids. Alli, Claire, K.C., and Connor.

And Alli (Melinda Shankar) is becoming quite the... social butterfly? Social queen?

I can't keep up between her and Johnny (Scott Paterson), Or is it her and K.C. (Samuel Earle)?

Her jealousy over Claire's (Aislinn Paul) new makeover was hilarious, especially since she initiated it.

But nothing tops her new bullying status as she brings evil Holly to tears (and bedrest). I know I know. I know the show is trying to make us sympathetic to Holly and the moral of the story is that Alli did a bad bad thing, but seriously, am I the only one who wanted to high-5 Alli for Carrieing Holly? Please, the evil queen deserved it.

And now, check out the new promo for Degrassi Goes Hollywood!!! The Degrassi TV-movie that will end off the 8th season (and be shown this summer on The N), with some returning favorites, including Paige, Marco, Craig, and Ellie, plus cameos by Perez Hilton, Pete Wentz, Kelly Carlson, Vivica A. Fox and Dan Levy! Plus I believe Jason Mewes is in the episode too. Don't know if Kevin Smith made it in but originally, the movie was supposed to reunite the Degrassi crew with Jay and Silent Bob:

I saw this show opening night and I was blown away! There was not one weak performance and while everyone was tremedous I think Jake Epstein, Adamo Ruggerio and Paula Brancati were stand outs. Also, Ben Lewis absolutely broke my heart. If I didn't live in the US I would see it every weekend.
