SYTYCD6 - 6h 6od N6

So You Think You Can Dance - Final 6 Results Night - Finale - Ep. 624
Judges: Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, Adam Shankman, Lil' C, Tyce DiOrio, Debbie Allen

Top 19 Group Dance
Style: Hip-Hop
Song: "Scared of Me (Radio Edit)" - Fedde le Grand featuring Mitch Crown
Choreographed by: Kelly Abbey
(Top 19 because Brandon Dumlao wasn't there since he's eligible to compete again next season)

I liked this dance a lot! Who is this Kelly Abbey? I like I like!

My Predictions from the Top 6 Performances:
This is what it SHOULD be (#position from last week in parenthesis):

1. Jakob (1)
2. Kathryn (4)
3. Ellenore (2)
4. Ryan (5)
5. Russell (6)
6. Ashleigh (7)

This is what it's GOING to be:

6th: Ashleigh
5th: Ryan
4th: Ellenore
3rd: Kathryn
2nd: Jakob
WINNER: Russell

In the end, after a lot of filler including repeats of the "best" dances chosen by the judges (oh look, tons from the Top 20 Showcase or Jakob pairings... hmm... coincidence? Russell was hurt and thus they re-aired videos for his dances), bad performances by Leona Lewis (Celine has NOTHING to worry about), Adam Lambert (yup, the right guy won Idol), J. Lo (which was pre-taped AND lip-synched), and Mary J. Blige (the least offensive performer of the night) and Groovaloos (now running Off-Broadway), Cat finally slowly revealed the results and the WINNER... was NOT:

Ryan Di Lello who came in 6th place.

It was not:
Ashleigh Di Lello who came in 5th place. Wait, this means she bested her husband? Who I thought was the better of the two?

It was not:
Ellenore Scott who came in 4th place. I'm just going to shake my head right now.

It was not:
Kathryn McCormick who came in 3rd place.

It was not:
Jakob Karr who came in 2nd...

Which means the WINNER of Season 6 is
Russell Ferguson
Congrats Russell! You are America's favorite dancer. Not my favorite dancer, maybe my 4th favorite dancer, but you WON!

Which also means Jakob, Ellenore and Kathryn lost. And yet again, with the exception of Jeanine, the best dancer never wins.

i'm sorry, i know there are lots of Russell fans out there (obviously, someone was calling) and some of you even read my blog, but for the most part, it seemed like the people around me are more Jakob/Kathryn/Ellenore fans and really, we all kind of figured Jakob deserved it after a clean season full of amazing and MEMORABLE dances.

I'm not even going to go into Russell's winning reaction...

And so there it is, the end of Season 6. Auditions for Season 7 are already starting in January though I think that's just because Cat and Nigel will be returning to the UK later this winter for So You Think You Can Dance: UK and they want to make sure they have the auditions in the can in case FOX decides to move the show back to the summer (since this Fall season was supposed to be only done to shift the show to a Fall schedule).

In the meantime, you can check my SYTYCDworthy list (w/ Videos) ranking all the Top 10 dancers from the American and Canadian seasons (and here it is in List Format).

I'm not sure I quite get this. What's the conspiracy here?

I also really loved that opening group number -- watched it three times.

As for Russell over Jakob...whatevs. I can be like all the bitter Danny fans now.

The Top 20 Showcase was already a special in itself to me so the finale repeating the special seemed redundant. They couldn't find #'s from the competition portion? Then just happened that the first bunch all had Jakob... and yes. I know they showed Russell ones in the second half. Anyways, meh, I don't even have the energy to make sense anymore.

Hey it's 'usagicassidy' from previous comments. Anyway, I took the liberty of uploading some of the phenomenal Kelley Abbey Group choreos from the Australian SYTYCD:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/byr8un

The extension on these is .mov but they're actually .avi files. They SHOULD work no problem, but if you can't get them to play and don't have VLC, you can download that player (it's totally free and not buggy at all videolan.org/vlc)
