The Saddest Day of the Year

The Oscar nominations are out in the morning (and I'm not even going to bother with predictions or anything) and I'm still playing catch up with the 2007 batch of movies (mini reviews of just-seen Into the Wild, A Mighty Heart and the Canadian movie Breakfast with Scot (which opened for us last year) still to come, hopefully tomorrow). But as tradition on the day before the Oscars nominations announcements, is the announcement of The Razzies nominations, the awards given to the WORST movies of the year, on apparently the saddest day of the year (at least in Canada, where it's gray and cold) (or if you have stocks anywhere in the world, which I can't believe, I somehow predicted all last year saying it's all coming tumbling down sometime this winter or early spring! Bring it ON! I have the cash and need to buy a house/condo and waiting for the foreclosures to happen and the prices to come down! WOOHOO!!! Bring on the homeless people and bankruptcies. Papa needs a new place to live!)

What's funny is that I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry is second with 8 nominations (after I Know Who Killed Me leading with 9 nominations including two for Worst Actress nominations for Lindsay Lohan in the SAME movie) and I just reviewed it last week and I actually didn't hate it like I thought I would and gave it a mediocre rating (as opposed to blasting it like I did Spider-man 3 which really should have been remembered as being completely horrific).

Anyways, check out the Worst Screen Couple category. It's pretty hilarious! Plus, the Worst Director's category pretty much proves that former sitcom actors make bad directors (with Brian Robbins from Head of the Class and Fred Savage from The Wonder Years being both nominated).
