Life's too short to waste on bad entertainment. Well, unless it's so bad, it's good. Or you're stuck in an airplane.

SYTYCD6 - The N'd
So You Think You Can Dance - Top 10 Results Night - The Cut From 10 to 8 - Ep. 620 Judges: Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, Adam Shankman
Top 10 Group Dance Style: Crap Song: "It's Still Rock and Roll To Me" - Billy Joel Choreographed by: who else? Tyce DiOrio!
So I hated this dance from start to finish. Not because the dancers didn't dance it well, but because it was a scattered mess with no cohesion, style or even a story. Running to a fence and screaming is not a story. It's a scene from West Side Story, but that is beautifully choreographed. This was not the genius of Jerome Robbins. This wasn't even Baskin Robbins. It was complete and utter sh!t (excuse my language).
And then guess what? Cat Deeley announced it was choreographed by Tyce DiOrio! Of course it was! Why am I not surprised? Why does he still have a career? It's not like he's nice or anything (see Every Little Step).
Disagree that Noelle got carried into the Top 10 by Russell. It was right that she went home this week, but I thought there were several dances in the previous weeks where she was the one propping up that pair and didn't get credit for it.
Totally agree with your comments about Tyce's crappy opening number. The minute it started my friend Larry and I were like "WTF is this? A Billy Joel song? Must be Tyce."
ANYWAY, I wasn't surprised by the bottom 4, I can't tell you how many people I've talked to that constantly got Noelle and Kathryn mixed up, so I think that was part of the problem. And like you I didn't really want any of the guys to go. I would've rather have lost Ryan, but he is a better partner than Nathan. Oh well, I'll see my cute darling boy on tour.
The LXD were absolutely PHENOMENAL. My friends and I rewatched their piece about 5 times. I recognized "other Asian" and one of the guys looked exactly like Lil' C but I guess it wasn't him because wouldn't they have said something? Would love to see them live or in a film or anywhere.
Ranking the 4 MEN left (isn't it weird they are always called "boys?")I don't see Jakob as head and shoulders above the rest. Rather IMO it would be him and Legacy tied at the top, and Russell and the Ryan tied for 2nd. Mainly because I haven't been as impressed by Jakob's hiphop yet as much as I have been impressed by Legacy's contemporary. But maybe I'm missing something. Also I am getting tired of all of Jakob's high kicks constantly, it's like he's always trying to show us his crotch and inner bumcheeks. I know for others that's a good thing though LOL
I do think Legacy is so up there too. I was actually calling for him to win after his routines. Then I watch Jakob and Elle and want them to win. Then I watch Legacy and want him to win. And so on. lol.
I wonder if the order they dance might actually affect their voting considering some things are so close at this point.
One of the 3 choreographers listed for the LXD number is Harry Shum, who plays the character/dancer Mike Chang on Glee. I am waiting for Glee to stop treating the Asian characters so shabbily, bts. He will be in the Jon Chu movie Step Up 3-D which Adam Shankman is producing.
Oh. My. God.
ReplyDeleteThese were all, so f*ing incredible!

ReplyDeleteYah, though at least Glee has Asian characters. I like the new Scrubs 2.0 but how can there be NO ASIAN'S in MED SCHOOL?
