WTF?

Maybe it's a good thing I'm behind in my TV blogging because after hearing about the results from SYTYCD Canada last night, and that ABC is cancelling Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone and (slightly less surprsingly) Dirty Sexy Money, I'm hopping mad.

Seriously Canada. WTF? ARASSAY??? and VINCENT??? with Lisa in the bottom 2 as well?

And Pushing Daisies? I think I'm going to cry.

Get Your Dirty Hands Off My Sexy Money - Dirty Sexy Money

Dirty Sexy Money - Season 2 Premieres on Oct. 1st at 10pm on ABC/AChannel

With everything going on in the markets right now, am I mean to think some of this is the bankers, brokers and other suit's own doing? I'm secretly laughing in glee (once I've double checked that my own portfolio is safe of course)!

Schadenfreude is right! Now I'm no economic expert or anything but isn't this whole economic downfall basically coming down to the fact that people are spending way more than they are actually earning/making and that people need to suck it up, live without the latest gear or daily Starbucks, and save some money? Plus, coming from an architect's perspective (as one of the poorest paid professions around), I've always had it secretly out for the suits who push around virtual money around (or creating creative accounting methods to make the rich richer and keep the poor down) and somehow that's a JOB? and one that makes a lot of money? (Apparently, I'm here to piss off first realtors and now suits or anybody with an MBA! (That Fedex commercial was just classic!))

But, oh, we love money and we all dream of having it don't we? We love it even more when those with it trip up and lose it! So as the folks at Lehman Brothers are being tossed onto the street with their boxes (seriously, it's just WRONG how much I'm laughing on the inside all while watching it on CNN), you can continue spending frivolously on the Season 1 DVD of Dirty Sexy Money to see how those Darlings live. And hey, those newly unemployed folks have all the time in the world now to watch and catch up!

Then check out the Darlings latest venture, The Darling Towers and watch the Season 2 premiere of Dirty Sexy Money on ABC/AChannel on Wednesday Oct. 1st at 10pm.

By the way, my next diatribe will be against developers (well, bad ones at least, like any who can call a room with no windows a "den" or "bedroom" or anyone who ever built a tower in Vancouver, or anyone who works for Concord). So watch your back!

As for the actual show, I actually forgot where we were (so thankfully ABC prepared a starter kit to catch us all up), but I do remember loving Samaire Armstrong's flighty performance as the spoiled Juliet Darling but it seems like she really IS off the show after her bout with rehab (or something like that). Meanwhile, Lucy Liu (!!!) now joins the cast (uh, I guess Cashmere Mafia is officially dead then? Shoot, it was the better of the two SATC knockoff's but sadly, I guess Lipstick Jungle won) and there's more of that mystery surrounding Blair Underwood's Simon Elder and Peter Krause's Nick George's dad and something about Tripp (notice I used the word "trip" above?) Darling but really, we are here to watch the rich folks behave badly and hopefully take a fall at some point, while we're rooting for "poor" boy do-gooder Nick surviving the filthy rich!

Hopefully Candis Cayne will return as Carmelita and hopefully they can make Rev. Brian Darling actually likable at some point.

Here's the "Starter Kit" ABC prepared to catch you up on everything from Season 1 on Dirty Sexy Money:

Here are the new ABC promotional stills of the cast:

Peter Krause as Nick George:

Donald Sutherland as Tripp Darling:

Jill Clayburgh as Letitia Darling:

Natalie Zea as Karen Darling:

William Baldwin as Patrick Darling:

Seth Gabel as Jeremy Darling:

Glenn Fitzgerald as Rev. Brian Darling:

Zoe McClellan as Lisa George:

Yup, They're One Of Us! - Canada Day Edition

Happy Canada Day!

In honour of our home and nation land, here's my favorite Canadians on TV because you know we are slowly taking over Hollywood (hehe) and that as a rule, there must be one Canadian on each show for it to be good. (Well, okay, the Australians and British are slowly taking over that rule but at least we are keeping it in the commonwealth). Though actually, looking below, seems like ABC is actually employing the most Canadians (as well as the Gays). I knew there was a reason why ABC is now my favorite network!

Sandra Oh as Christina Yang in Grey's Anatomy

Emily Vancamp as Rebecca in Brothers & Sisters

Luke MacFarlane as Scotty in Brothers & Sisters (who also made the Pride Edition! Gay AND Canadian!)

Taylor Kitsch as Tim Riggins in Friday Night Lights

Cobie Smulders as Robin Scherbatsky in How I Met Your Mother

Joshua Jackson as Peter Bishop in the upcoming Fringe

Donald Sutherland as Tripp Darling in Dirty Sexy Money

Evangeline Lilly as Kate Austen in Lost

Sarah Chalke as Dr. Elliot Reid in Scrubs

Victor Garber as Jordan Wethersby in Eli Stone

James Tupper as Jack Slattery in Men In Trees

Some Other Canucks:

Plus Half the cast of Men In Trees including Sarah Strange, Suleka Matthews, Timothy Webber, Ty Olsson, Nicholas Lea and Currie Graham
Natasha Henstridge as Taylor Wethersby in Eli Stone
William Shatner as Denny Crane in Boston Legal
Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in 24
Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang in Smallville
Vik Sahay as Lester in Chuck
Jeremy Ratchford as Nick Vera in Cold Case

Fashionably Late - Project Runway, House and Everything Else I Haven't Talked About In A While

Project Runway - Eye Candy - Ep. 406, What a Girl Wants - Ep. 407, On Garde! - Ep. 408, Even Designers Get the Blues - Ep. 409, Raw Talent - Ep. 410
House - It's a Wonderful Lie, Ep. 410, Frozen - Ep. 411, Don't Ever Change - Ep. 412
Boston Legal - Season 4
Private Practice - Season 1
Dirty Sexy Money - Season 1

Well, at least the writer's strike let me catch up with the stuff I taped.

I've actually been watching Project Runway and House mostly on time but since PR is delayed here in Canada, I'm always playing slight catch up and never in time to talk about in a timely way. But I wanted to use my above title at some point to seem clever. So here's my fashionably late post about Project Runway. Get it? How clever of me (look, I'm jetlagged. Give me a cheap freebie okay?)

Also fashionably late? Ricky's inevitable Auf'd that everyone has been waiting for. Finally. And yet, just as the crying self-esteem self chatter was getting on my nerves, he actually pulls a win in the Jeans episode, and I actually didn't totally hate his orange bathing suit/wrestling outfit but I did agree, it still made the scary female wrestler look a bit fat and it wasn't an original look.

Still, the fact that Ricky outlasted Kevin (who was so wronged that week he got Auf'd), Victorya (who, as annoyingly passive aggressive as she was and while she wasn't amazing, was still better than Kevin), Kit (who was TOTALLY wronged that week when she worked with Ricky and got Auf'd because she actually had some gumption of design control), and even ELISA (who as crazy as she may have been, had at least more interesting designs than Ricky) shows why the producers still hasn't fixed the crack in their system (Vincent anyone?). Ricky wasn't even that cameraworthy. He was kinda boring. Yes he played on the poor Latino boy doing good but I wish he had the designs to back him up. THEN it would have been a good story.

Anyways, Christian is a total twat but the fierce little bitch is still quite entertaining, if only for his youthful arrogance. I'd be more annoyed but I'm still mesmerized that he could sport that side-mullet (haha... god, Liz, that WAS brilliant) with a straight face (no gay pun intended).

So, while I've kinda avoided the spoilers (since the final Bryant Park Fashion show happened and you can just google it to see the pics but I'll avoid posting them here so that I can avoid looking at them)...

Of the remaining contestants, Chris, Christian and Jillian are probably my faves. I love Rami still but the dude's got some air of attitude when things don't go his way and when he can't drape fabric in his designs. Sweet P is probably my favorite person (though Chris is close in the running) but her designs are hit and miss. Jillian seems the most middle of the road successful, too bad she's kinda boring. Christian is great when he pulls out all the stops, but I'm glad he got bitch slapped by the school girl when he had to make that outfit for the opinionated tween. Karmic payback can be fierce.

In another fashion moment, the McGill sweatshirt makes a comeback on House! Yes, little things are enough to excite us Canadians! (Well, okay, fine, just me) Especially to see the return of my alma mater's sweatshirt on Cutthroat Bitch Amber after we discover she's dating Wilson. Even better? When House realizes Wilson is dating a female version of House!

The whole thing was hilarious and I'm really growing to love Anne Dudek between being Cutthroat Bitch and decking out in 60's housewife's garb on Mad Men. It also got to showcase Robert Sean Leonard (as Wilson) some more, which is always a good thing.

I'm still wondering why Fox was fashionably late (you know I'm going to work that phrase in this post as much as possible now) in showing House's Christmas episode at the end of January but considering NBC shows the 2 remaining episodes of Chuck on one night, Fox is holding back Bones until April, and ABC is holding back Men In Trees even though it has the most episodes left to show, I'm just assuming the programming execs are just complete morons at this point.

As for Mira Sorvino's appearance, all I could think about was, who is that guy she's trapped in the arctic for? He's kinda hot but where is he from? (I finally figured out that he was that guy trying to work into the Newport Group on The OC, Jeff Hephner). Nevermind that we had an Oscar winner on the post-Super Bowl episode (who I actually did think deserved her win for Mighty Aphrodite but then again, I was also happy for Marisa Tomei's win so I seem to champion the underdogs here).

Anyways, I've also been catching up with the 3 star ABC shows, Boston Legal, Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money.

I still enjoy Boston Legal, even though they got rid of my favorites Julie Bowen and wet dream Mark Valley and I think they've taken Christian Clemenson's asperger striken Jerry too far but I love the addition of Taraji P. Henson who brings her trademark sass to Whitney Rome. Plus it's nice seeing her not play a stripper, hooker or whore for once (though she does it so excellently in Talk to Me, Hustle and Flow, Four Brothers).

It's funny that they have sort of acknowledged that they don't know what to do with John Larroquette in their usual meta sort of way, but the coup casting hasn't laid on the sidelines as they continue to fit the script pages so that James Spader and William Shatner fill the screen (no pun intended, well, not really). I love when they throw Candice Bergen in the mix as the heavyweights (again, no real pun intended) but the show never seems to know how to mix the Shat and Spader in with the others, particularly the other headliners which always leaves the show a little disjointed.

I do love the guest casting though, particularly Scott Bakula! Quantum Leaping lizards!

Still, as crazy as it all is, I find myself not missing the show when I'm not watching it but totally loving it when I do.

Meanwhile, I'm totally not missing newcomers Private Practice or Dirty Sexy Money either and not loving them when I do watch, though DSM is growing on me. I'm really only sticking with PP at this point because I was waiting for Christopher David Sutcliffe to show up and what happens when I do? I accidentally erase those episodes. Oh well. There are TV favorites guest starring on the show galore (from Keiko Agena also from Gilmore Girls to Christopher Wiehl from Love Monkey) but I have more fun recognizing people than I do the actual show.

I still love Paul Adelstein and wonder if his Gilmore Girl starring wife may pop up one day (he's married in real life to Liza Weil, Paris Geller) to add to all the guest stars from that show. I still think the women need to grow spines, and they need to expand Chris Lowell's Dell further into the mix, but it's coming back for another season so let's hope they fix things for the fall.

Meanwhile, I watch Dirty Sexy Money, I enjoy, then I totally forget what happens by the time I watch the next episode (and considering I'm watching it taped, that doesn't mean a week, sometimes it just means hours in between). It's fun, it's frothy, it's getting soapier but I just don't care about most of the characters still, and the best one, Samaire Armstrong's Juliet, is off in rehab in real life so who knows what might happen to her.

I still love the whole Carmelita (Candis Cayne) and Patrick Darling (William Baldwin) relationship but I'm already lost on Lisa and Peter and Karen and whatever that triangle they seemed to want going, and as funny as the bastard son storyline for Rev. Patrick Darling may be, along with being the secret brother of Peter, I still hate the Brian character, which is played annoyingly by Glenn Fitzgerald in an annoying way and not an annoying but still lovable way that TV requires.

As for Blair Underwood, I prefer him on The New Adventures of Old Christine. He probably does less there but is still more compelling.

I still have hope for DSM and it is also back in the fall for another season, but let's hope Greg Berlanti shapes the show a bit more before spreading himself too thin everywhere on ABC.

TV Bloggers Favourite New Shows

Just as I put out my list of current Top 10 shows to watch right now, Scooter McGavin put together our fellow blogger friends favourite new shows of the season (must have debuted after August 1st 2007) now that we've had several weeks to really watch them and not just base them on our initial kneejerk reaction to the pilots. Like Scooter puts it, last year most people hadn't thought about Friday Night Lights as the one to watch for (well, ahem, I did but whose counting? Though I do admit I didn't think it would last) He "tallied up all the votes and entered them into a scientific method that would make Einstein smile, and here is the list that came out the other side" :

1. Pushing Daisies - ABC (8)
2. Chuck - NBC (2)
3. Dirty Sexy Money - ABC
4. The Big Bang Theory - CBS
5. Gossip Girl - CW
6. Aliens in America - CW
7. Samantha Who? - ABC
8. Moonlight - CBS (1)
9. Reaper - CW
10. Journeyman - NBC

(numbers in parentheses denote first place votes)
Also receiving votes: Life, Woman’s Murder Club, Private Practice, Bionic Woman, Cane

Voters: Dan, Ducky, Kath, Jo, Liz, Rae, Sandie, Scooter McGavin, Tube Talk Girl, TVFan, Vance

No real big surprise with the top choices. It's interesting to compare our initial excitements and see what has lived up to expectations (Pushing Daisies, Chuck), what has surprised us (The Big Bang Theory, Gossip Girl, Aliens in America) and what is dropping (Reaper) and what is holding on to its last breathe (Bionic Woman, Cane, Private Practice).

And AHEM... again, I think I did a pretty good prediction on what would be good or not. Did I not call out the bad Cane and Bionic Woman while going out on a limb for Gossip Girl, The Big Bang Theory and Aliens in America? Hehe...

Anyways, my ballot that I submitted to Scooter was this:
1. Pushing Daisies
2. Chuck
3. Aliens in America
4. Gossip Girl
5. Samantha Who? (although I had debated back and forth between this and The Big Bang Theory)

Dirty Sexy Money would have been next. It's getting better, but it's still not there yet for me.

Scrubs and Some Reshuffling in Canada

Scrubs is back with all that JD and Elliot action! Or at least, whatever happens post-handgrab.

Scrubs returns for their supposed last season 7 at 9:30pm on NBC following The Office, and on AChannel in Canada at 8pm (followed by 30 Rock at 8:30pm)

I actually noticed there's already been a bit of a re-shuffle in Canada as CTV dumps some of the lower rated new shows (originally to be shown on CTV) over to their new sister network AChannel. Big Shots now switches over to AChannel (it starts tonight showing last weeks episode at 9pm and the regular slot at 10pm). Dirty Sexy Money as well but now on at the same time as in the states (Wednesday at 10pm). Samantha Who? is being simulcast with ABC on Mondays at 9:30pm.

The Big Bang Theory is at 8:30 on Mondays on AChannel as well (simulcast with CBS).

This leaves CTV free to move ER back to 10pm on Thursday (I guess it's still doing well in Canada). This also leaves a spot free on Sunday which they've filled in with CSI this coming weekend but my guess is it's left open for the return of The Amazing Race (starting Nov. 4th). (The fact that Moonlight is still on the main network makes me wonder ...)

Global is also showing Are You Smarter Than a Canadian 5th Grade? (groan) at 9pm tonight so I have no idea when they actually plan to show The Office and My Name is Earl and since their website sucks, I can't be bothered to scroll through their entire schedule to find out when. So just watch it on NBC.

At least CTV tends to show the episode eventually or throw it to AChannel now but Global just lets whole episodes disappear. I felt compelled to talk about 'Da Kink in the Hair but now I feel less proned to.

That White Light You See Is The TV Set Turned On - The Canadian Thanksgiving Holiday TV Catch Up

As much as I love going away and discovering new places, I love coming back from a trip and catching up on all the TV I missed. Seriously, for a split second as I was about to die from almost falling off a horse on a Chilean mountain, I thought about the episode of Brothers & Sisters I was missing. The possibility of death (or at least getting muddy and a backache) sure puts good TV into perspective.

And now that I'm back, still bruised (Heath Ledger I'm not, I can definitely attest that I'm a city slicker, and thank god we went on the winery tour AFTER horseback riding in the mountains) and spent the day mostly catching up, here's what I loved from what I missed these past few days, in order.

Pushing Daisies - Dummy
Chuck -
Chuck Versus the Tango
Brothers & Sisters -
An American Family
Gossip Girl -
Bad News Blair
House - 97 Seconds
Desperate Housewives - Smiles of a Summer Night
Beauty and the Geek - It's Not Rocket Science
Everybody Hates Chris -
Everybody Hates Caruso
Aliens in America -
No Man Is An Island
How I Met Your Mother -
Third Wheel
Corner Gas -
Spin Cycle
Dirty Sexy Money -
The Italian Banker
Private Practice -
In Which Addison Finds the Magic
Heroes - Kindred
Journeyman - Game Three
Reaper - All Mine

Holy. Did I really just watch all that TV in just one day? (And to think it can't be done. Pushaw... now I have proof there's always time for TV! Granted, I'm still on holiday here and recovering from the 11 hour flight)

So not the greatest week again for last years faves How I Met Your Mother and Heroes (not horrible, just not superb), good episodes from Everybody Hates Chris and House (which has re-invigorated itself by switching things up finally) and yet another homerun for newcomers Chuck and Pushing Daisies, and as clichéd as it is, I still find myself immensely enjoying Gossip Girl, though I think mostly impart from Blake Lively and Penn Badgley's charms.

And as amazing and complete as the pilot episode for Pushing Daisies was, everyone I spoke to worried about where it could possibly go from there. First of all, people, just ENJOY IT for what it is. Second of all, worry no more, because wasn't the second episode just as delightful, in a totally different way? This time almost taking a horror film slant within its whimsical and odd tone.

I loved that they delved back to Ned's childhood, explaining a little bit more after his mothers death. I loved that Chuck and Ned actually kissed already and that they aren't holding them back from each other despite the fact that they can't actually touch each other. Moonlighting this is not, this goes beyond that point right away and it's a smart move. I loved that they already made Kristin Chenowith sing in a hilarious musical ode to her unrequited love for Ned. I loved that I love Chi McBride as Emerson because I found him a bit annoying on House, so it's good to see him in a good role. Next week, the aunts are back which can only mean more wackiness ensues!

As for the cast of Chuck, why isn't Ryan McPartlin as Captain Awesome not part of the regular cast? If Morgan can be, why not Captain Awesome? He who does more with 3 minutes of screen time than some can do on a whole series? Captain Awesome teaches Chuck to tango for Chuck's first mission, while Morgan gets stuck in a cage. I understand that Chuck needs one of those annoying best friends that gets him into trouble, but does he have to be so annoying? At least that's my only complaint about the show. The rest, hilarious!

Justin is alive and back in the US, injured but safe, until the Walkers come descending upon him, and gets attacked with motherly love from Nora and all his Brothers & Sisters. Kitty, Kevin and Nora also get in trouble after backtalking to a radio political shock jock that gets Senator McCalister in trouble. Rebecca reveals the truth about what happened with Joe to Sarah, while Joe is officially over with Sarah. Rebecca gets her friend a job at Ojai, who presumes Saul is gay, mistakenly outing Saul underneath Tommy's watch, before everything is swept under again. Again, I love the dynamics of the crazy Walker family which makes this show work so well. I love that Calista Flockart, Matthew Rhys, Rachel Griffiths, Dave Annable, Sally Field and Emily Vancamp actually gel on screen well together, and make it seem possible that they could actually be related. Now if only they could stick Balthazar Getty's Tommy into the mix a bit more, and it would let his character be more interesting since his scenes with the family are great, but they are few and far between, since most of the time we see him with depressing wife or at Ojai.

Allergy ridden Gossip Girl (hilarious narration from Kristen Bell) is back tracking down S and B, who this week, are trying to be friends again, then not, when Blair gets unceremoniously dumped as a model by her own mother in favour of Serena, then friends again, when Blair finds out it really wasn't Serena's fault after all. Wait, was Margaret Colin the mother in the pilot or did they just do a switcheroo? I LOVE Margaret Colin so I think I would have noticed if she was in the pilot. Anyways. LOVE Mararet Colin (from the cancelled-too-fast-gem Now and Again with Dennis Haysbert (24, Far From Heaven) and Eric Close (Without a Trace)) so I like that they seem to be filling the adult roles with some good pedigree (including Peter O'Brien (UK's Queer as Folk) as the photographer). Meanwhile, Nate is having his poor-little-rich-boy crisis and with the help of former-rich-boy-hippie, loses a lot of money in a con poker game much to Chuck's objections. (Seriously, what's with all the Chuck's in this years best new shows?)

Like I mentioned before, House has totally revitalized itself by throwing all these wannabe ducklings into the mix, and Foreman with his own set at a different hospital. I've always liked Olivia Wilde (The OC, Skin) and Kal Penn (Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle) so I'm glad they are finally on a good show that gives them a chance for more, especially now that they will be permanently added to the cast. The best episodes of House were always the ones where they mix things up from their usual disease-of-the-week where House solves it 10 minutes before the end of the hour, and while the addition of new ducklings will probably end up doing the same, the audition process sure was fun.

Ditto with Desperate Housewives, with the addition of bitchy old/new neighbour Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delaney) and the bonus of husband played by Nathan Fillion has added a nice new mystery to Wisteria Lane. They've also grouped the housewives back together again, making sure they all intermingle, which has always been the strength of the show. While the men (a great group of guys Doug Savant, Kyle MacLachlin, Nathan Fillion, James Denton) have mostly been relegated to the sidelines (with the exception of Carlos' Edie marriage proposal's storyline), all seems right again on Desperate Housewives and it's finally landed in the right balance of an enjoyable show again.

Between Rebecca being with studly Sam and Will's constant winning bloating his ego, everyone is out to get them on Beauty and the Geek. It's viewers favorite competition week and the Beauties must make a bottle rocket while the Geeks must give the beauties a message. Thankfully, Jesse wins the massage, enabling them to enact revenge on Will and Rebecca (paybacks a bitch), while Sam wins the rocket launch contest and puts up Will (the other one) and Jennifer assuming they would easily be beat. Sam was wrong and Will (the good one) while gloating, is adorably put into place by partner Jen, to not let it get to his head. That's how Will (the evil one) was antagonized in the first place. Justice is served and just before next week's makeover episode! Yey! It's my favorite episode! Who doesn't love Pygmalion?

Everybody hates Caruso when the Chinese kid beats him up, taking out the sole bully from the school. However, chaos ensues when the natural order of the school falls apart as everyone becomes a bully and Chris must fix it before Everybody Hates Chris. Rochelle makes Julius take his vacation days, but Julius being Julius, secretly takes on a job as a delivery man. Okay, I know the Emmy's are generally whitewashed and only award black actors on white shows, but it's time to stop the insanity and take notice of Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold who are really the heart and soul of this show, and can balance between heartfelt emotion to over-the-top hilarity all in the same scene.

While we've already seen almost everything on this second episode of Aliens in America, when Justin really gets the blunt of social rejection for being connected to Raja, I couldn't help but laugh at Dan Byrd who really is terrific as the social outcast on the show. Adhir Kalyan plays Raja sweetly naively and bonus points for being naked in the locker room. And while the accent is a little annoying, I've got to hand it to Amy Pietz, who if I hadn't seen doing theatre, would have written her off from her Caroline in the City days, because she and Scott Patterson (there really IS life after Luke's Diner!) work really well together as the Tolchuk parentals.

I think I should have laughed a little more on How I Met Your Mother, as Ted finds himself in a possible position as the third wheel in a threesome between former dates (Danica McKellar, Busy Phillips). Barney is hilarious TALKING about the threesome but is it not weird that technically, future Ted is telling his KIDS this story? I know. I'm thinking WAY too much but it occurred to me during the show and then it creeped me out. This is one to boast to your friends (maybe), but NOT your kids. Oh the horror. At least Robin was on a funnier storyline as she dates a British doctor and realising she needs to shave part way through the good date (just watch, it makes sense on the show).

Lacey is asked to do model nude for the local ladies charity calendar, Hank teaches a spinning class (!??!) where Karen becomes a teachers pet and Wanda gets a cordless phone for Corner Gas. Somehow Brent and Co. makes this REALLY funny. I love the dry Canadian sense of humour but I do wonder how this will do on American syndication?

Okay, Samaire Armstrong is the best thing of Dirty Sexy Money. There. I said it. I was worried at first that her character would be one note (even though all her other characters have always been fully fleshed out smart girls), but no matter how many dimensions (or lack there of) Juliet has, Samaire is ridiculously funny with her. As funny as the mean priest Brian is, I'm getting a little tired of it all, and the slow serious parts of the show still lag the pacing a little but I'm still liking this show even though it still feels like it's trying to find it's own footing. Maybe Blair Underwood will help, if he actually shows up in person.

Meanwhile, the best part of Private Practice this week is Paul Adelstein in a butterfly costume playing with little girls. Somehow it's not as creepy as it sounds, much to Paul's credit. I love me some Audra McDonald but maybe they should take a note from lead-in show Pushing Daisies and let the Broadway star sing instead of making her eat cake all episode. You'd think this show was written by men and not lead by a woman. What is this? Womens Wear Daily?

While I didn't hate Heroes this week, I just don't really remember anything from it except Milo's large eyes as he pushes his hands into the air and Claire and emo-boy-Thomas Dekker-replacement flying in the sky. Nikki is back, the new latinos escape from jail, Mohinder gets Issac's studio, remade into a lab, and Hiro makes sure Kensei becomes a hero and thus loses his love. Blah Blah blah... Oh yeah. and Sylar is alive and being nursed by a company.

Journeyman had a neat concept, by sending Dan back to San Francisco during game three of the world series when the earthquake shook the city. He keeps returning, assuming he needs to save people from the quake, but of course, things are never as they seem. It was good but this episode could have been exceptional, and by actually personalising the story to the man he had to save, it actually decreased the interest somehow. Luckily, they have Kevin McKidd in the lead so I'll keep on this journey for now.

I find myself wanting to really like Reaper especially because of Bret Harrison and Tyler Labine, but I find myself always getting a little bored partway through every episode so far, and while Sam contends with wasting his future, I always feel reminded that I'm wasting my time watching TV (which, as a TV lover, I should not feel like). I know most people seem to be loving this show but I feel like a slacker while watching these slackers reap evils-of-the-week. I feel more productive when I watch The Real World. Yet I still have this devotion in trying to love this show and there are parts I do, but it's not becoming the love affair I thought it would be. I think part of it is that I don't buy the girl boy relationships. No way would Josie have gone out with Socks, and no way would her lawyer boss have just acted so casually upon meeting him, and while I could understand smart Andi toiling away at something beneath her, something still feels off about that storyline. I don't buy it quite yet. I'm hoping there's more to the explanations.

So there you go, I'm back, I'll be back on my normal work schedule on Monday and as of now, I play catch up with life and TV, which sometimes is one and the same!
