ABC, NBC, CBS, CW, FOX, ZZZ

ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and The CW have announced their fall schedules. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Considering this post has been in the making for a week, you can see how excited I was to post and share my thoughts.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Does anybody even care about the new shows for next season? I mean, we've already seen the best in Glee so I've already found my new obsession. Can the new season actually bring something else amazing? Would it even survive more than 4 weeks?

Cause after Pushing Daisies. After Privileged. After The Unusuals. After Worst Week. I don't know if I can trust the networks enough to fall in love with a series only to be have it cancelled. Granted, I'm shocked Better Off Ted, Friday Night Lights, and Southland are back but I'm sure they'll be relegated to a horrible time slot.

I mean, how did Friday's 9pm slot become so full? I know it's sort of seen as a deathtrap, but I still love Ugly Betty, Dollhouse and Southland and now all three will be in that time slot (in addition to Friday Night Lights when it resumes now in Summer 2010 on NBC... Yes, SUMMER 2010... at least on free network TV... ahem).

Plus, ABC has a brand new show block for Wednesdays, with 4 new comedies to bring us back to the early 90's. Kelsey Grammer (Hank) and former co-star Patricia Heaton (The Middle) as well as Ed O'Neill (Modern Family) and Courteney Cox (Cougar Town). Didn't this group hold the top 3 comedies of the 90's outside of Jerry Seinfeld?

Meanwhile, I'm glad I pretty much avoided pilot season this year since I keep hearing of great shows that got passed over for Mischa Barton's new show The Beautiful Life. Which I'm sure I'll still watch. I'm such a sucker.

And when did Medium become a hot show? With NBC and CBS fighting for it? Who knew!? So of all the networks, FOX actually looks like it may have the most things I actually watch. When did THAT happen? I'm usually an ABC/CW man, or even NBC but NBC seems to be trying to commit suicide, while ABC is running like a chicken with its head cut off after attempts at quality programming was met with indifference (if I were them, I'd be frustrated too). And CW continues to piss me off with Dawn Ostroff somehow still running the place and on her annual rampage as she kills off great shows (RIP Everwood, Veronica Mars, Aliens in America, Privileged) while banking on hot trash (90210, Melrose Place, The Vampire Diaries, The Beautiful Life, One Tree Hill). And CBS is CBS. Someone's watching. So why WOULD they change?

Shows I still care about in BOLD.

NBC Falls Out

It's out. I'll comment later when I have more time. Or when I care.

Cause you know I'm rolling my eyes at he-who-is-not-funny-and-has-a-big-chin taking over the 10pm slots.

Can NBC fall more out of touch? I really hope it fails miserably though I have a bad feeling it won't.

UPDATE: Okay, so I took a look at the new NBC roster, and here's how I see it:

The Pros:

Friday Night Lights and Southland are back.

The Cons:

Chuck still hasn't been guaranteed. The summer burn off of Kings will be it.

The Pros:

Parenthood. It's from Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights) and Tommy Schlamme. The cast has Peter Krause (Six Feet Under), Maura Tierney (ER, Newsradio), Sam Jaegar (Eli Stone), Mae Whitman (Arrested Development), Erika Christensen (Traffic), Craig T. Nelson (Coach), Marguerite Morreau (life as we know it) and Bonnie Bedelia (um, movies from the 80's and 90's)

The Cons:

It also has Monica Potter who I used to like but has been getting kinda irritating. And I only know Dax Shepard from the tabloids.

Prospects Rating: Watchable

The Pros:

Joel McHale (The Soup) has a show! Community!

AND it has John Oliver (The Daily Show)

The Cons:

It also has Chevy Chase, who I've never been a fan of, and could join Morgan in things I could do without on Chuck.

Prospects Rating: Watchable

The Pros:

Christopher Moynihan is in the new show 100 Questions!!! And it's coming from James Burrows (Cheers, Will & Grace)

The Cons:

Christopher Moynihan is in the new show called 100 Questions. A show described as "Charlotte Payne is looking for love. She's dated lots of men and has been proposed to ten times, but has yet to meet Mr. Right. So Charlotte decides to join a popular online dating site, where she has to take a 100-question compatibility test. The questions aren't easy for Charlotte to answer, and each one requires her to recount a poignant and humorous time in her life with friends Leslie, Jill, Mike and Wayne. The test becomes a journey of self-discovery for Charlotte and helps her realize what she truly wants in a relationship."

It also has "Digital Features:
• Dating service website as featured in show - a user-generated component where fans respond to the question of the week, see character profiles and view video "dating tips"

• Weekly themed love quizzes and polls tied to show topics."

Oh gawd, I love romantic earnestness but something feels really cold and corporate about all this.

Prospects Rating: Unwatchable

The Pros:

Derek Mio (Greek) and Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars, Eli Stone) have a show together! And Xander Berkeley (24) and Carly Pope (Popular) are in it too!

The Cons:

It's called Day One, another high concept intense drama. Blegh. I love Mio, Gonzalo, Berkeley and Pope but not enough to get into another one of these.

Prospects Rating: Unwatchable

The Pros:

Guillermo Diaz (Weeds) and James Tupper (Men In Trees) are in a show together.

The Cons:

It's called Trauma with Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl, Buffy) headlining alongside someone that looks like Macy Gray/Rosario Dawson and someone that looks like a mini-Patricia Arquette or some other frail white chick that I can't think of right now. I love Michelle on Buffy and I love her as Georgina but I'm not sure I could take her in large doses.

One more pro: Margot Martindale! Okay, points for casting her.

Prospects Rating: Curious To Watch

The Pros:

Kevin Rankin (Friday Night Lights) is on a new show!

The Cons:

The new show Trauma looks campy and ridiculous. Except I think it's supposed to be an intense action drama.

One more Pro: Casting a non-white lead. Wow. Progressive. (Yes, that' an air of condescension in my breathe) And a cameo from Buddy Garrity!

Prospect Rating: Unwatchable

A Better Comedy?

In The Motherhood looks pretty bad but I adore Cheryl Hines (about the only reason I could tolerate Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Megan Mullaly (Will & Grace). It premieres on ABC on Thursday, March 26th at 8pm in Ugly Betty's timeslot and paired with Samantha Who?, but I don't really see it catching on and holding its own against Survivor or Bones. Hopefully it surprises me, since ABC's previous preggers comedy Notes From the Underbelly ended up being far funnier than one could imagine, but I have a feeling Ugly Betty might get its timeslot faster than anticipated.

Better off is Better Off Ted which premieres on ABC on Wednesday, March 18th at 8:30pm.

It's got two things going for it.

1) A new and different place of occupation for a television show (" a research and development department at a morally questionable corporation, Veridian Technologies. No achievement is too far fetched and no invention too unorthodox for Veridian").

2) Portia de Rossi (Arrested Development, Ellen's wife)

It also stars Jay Harrington (Private Practice, US Coupling), Andrea Anders (Joey, The Class) and Jonathan Slavin (hilarious in Andy Richter Controls The Universe).

Plus, this promo actually looks pretty hilarious:

I still think the show title is horrible but the more I'm finding out about this show, the more excited I am about it, and maybe it's because of Portia's participation, but I'm getting a feeling of an Arrested Development in the workplace vibe!

There's also Surviving Suburbia with Cynthia Stevenson and Bob Saget that premieres on ABC in the post Dancing with the Stars slot on Monday, April 6th at 9:30pm. But it sounds like another family show set in suburbia and stars Bob Saget. I mean, I loved Full House. When I was 12. But this new suburban sitcom had better be a biting satire to peak my interest, and from what I've read and the little I've seen so far, it doesn't look promising.

Everybody Wins Tonight At 8pm

Tonight at 8pm, Friday Night Lights (season) premieres on DirectTV for those who have it in the states!

Tonight at 8pm, Pushing Daisies (season) premieres on ABC!

Tonight at 8pm, So You Think You Can Dance Canada narrows it down from all the auditions to its first Top 20 on CTV!

Tonight at 8pm, Billy Elliot finally opens on Broadway with its first preview (Officially opens Nov. 13th).

Tonight at 8pm, I'll be at the Nokia Theatre in LA watching the So You Think You Can Dance Season 4 Live Tour.

That's all I have to say.

It's a win-win-win-win-win for everyone!

Although, actually, two more things:

Plus the very funny The New Adventures of Old Christine is on at 8pm on CBS.

And the very enjoyable Bones is on at 8pm on FOX/Global.

Add in two more wins, well, except for the viewer that has to choose. Or the DVR/PVR/Tivo/VCR that will be working overtime at 8pm on Wednesdays.

When did Wednesdays at 8pm become the hot spot?

Thank goodness NBC stuck the sucky Knight Rider in the same time slot. At least we can ignore ONE channel!

Let The 2008 Fall TV Preview Begin!

I'm back from China and ready for the new Fall TV Season and I'm ready to start posting about it all! Finally! So it will all start rolling out over the next while with previews/reviews of the pilots.

And since we had a shortened season last year, I think I've been starving for new scripted TV because I think I'm going easier on the new pilots than I would normally. So just a warning.

I'll keep updating this post as my master page of linkage to all my pilot reviews.

If you want an early peek, Hey Neilsen! rounded up a lot of my fellow TV bloggers including myself for an early opinion on the new shows for this TV season with the overall results here, and our commentaries here. (I guess I should have taken more care in writing my comments. I didn't think they would all be published! Though some of mine turned out funnier than I usually am! Maybe writing off the cuff really quickly might work better for me! Though a few comments were meant to be read one after the other like the way I filled out the form, so the humour may be missed in a couple).

I've already posted about Raising The Bar and ABC's previews for returning shows, but I'll keep adding to this list as I post them. I still need to catch up with this past week's premieres like 90210, Gossip Girl and Bones.

So You Think You Can Dance, Eh?

CTV finally announced the date.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada.

2 hour premiere.
Thursday, September 11th. 8pm.

(Above l-r, Judge Tre Armstrong, Host Leah Miller, Judge Jean-Marc Genereaux)

I'm pretty surprised they are showing this during the fall considering CTV already has SO many shows to squeeze in its lineup that it's giving half its shows to AChannel now that they own it. Still, I'm very excited!

I know they ALWAYS say this before the season of these competition shows but "apparently" this is one of the strongest Top 20 dancers of any SYTYCD. Or so "they" say. (I have no idea who "they" are).

Still, considering the level of talent on (most) Canadian Idols and Project Runway Canada, I have no doubt that there will be some talented Canadians out there!

So I'll try to post what I can and upload videos so that our friends south of the border can watch (and I've been given direct orders from a friend moving back to Dallas from Toronto to keep feeding her more SYTYCDCanada stuff (Who's going away party is incidentally tonight. Going to MISS YOU!)), especially given that my Project Runway Canada and SYTYCD posts are some of my most popular posts. So much for trying to convince you all to watch Gavin & Stacey, Mad Men or Greek (which starts again tonight on ABCFamily, though no idea if CTV is airing it since in their one bonehead move, they scheduled the premiere on the Friday after Canada Day when everybody went on holidays and then yanked it off the air when it got bad numbers. No? Really? You think?)

NBC 2008 - 2009 Video Previews

NBC has FINALLY released clips and commercials for their new fall shows (after ABC, CBS, FOX, and The CW have already long done so) and I guess they were saving it for the Olympics now that they finally have eyes on their network for the first time in months/years and while last years lineup mostly disappointed (did I not call out Bionic Woman as lame even BEFORE Isaiah Washington joined the cast?), I'm going to give NBC my attention for saving Friday Night Lights (albeit for the new year in 2009), 30 Rock, The Office and Chuck.

This years new crop of shows look like a mixed bag again. My Own Worst Enemy looks promising with its spy double identity intrigue going. Kath & Kim looks hilarious although I've heard bad rumours from the set of the Australian sitcom knockoff but the clip seems promising to me, and it has Selma Blair and John Michael Higgins so I'll give it a chance.

America's Toughest Jobs is one of those shows usually found on Discovery but I'm guessing NBC is desperate for filler right now and this is the type of show I would probably end up watching the whole thing once I tune in for 2 minutes. Maybe. If it was summer. But now that all the fall shows are about to start, I don't really care or have the time.

Meanwhile, I'm not that excited about Crusoe and Knight Rider. Both look like shows that should be syndicated to the Xena fans.

My Own Worst Enemy (Mondays 10pm, Premieres Oct. 13th)

I'm not sure why but I knew nothing about this show except that Christian Slater was in it. I would have totally bypassed it if it weren't for this preview which actually is changing my mind and now I'm quite intrigued. Not totally hooked yet, but definitely curious. Christian Slater is both Henry and Edward and one doesn't know they other exists, nor that one's a spy. OOOH Spy shows! Double identities! And Alfre Woodard (Desperate Housewives, Take the Lead) who I love and thinks needs something that really gets to showcase those piercing intelligent eyes. Plus anything that can help Mike O'Malley erase the memory of his own show (his appearances on My Name is Earl helped) is always a good thing. I'm in!

Here is the video preview:

Kath & Kim (Thursdays 8:30pm, Premieres Oct. 9th)

Again, it stars Selma Blair and Molly Shannon. The boy is cute. John Michael Higgins is hilarious. It's campy and trashy. Perfect!

Here's the video preview:

Knight Rider (Wednesdays 8pm Premiering Sept. 24th)

It looks like Transformers, except instead of a whole team of them, we only have one. I heard the TV movie that premiered in the spring was a bit lame and I'm not sure the preview is helping but the fact that Sydney Tamila Poitier (Veronica Mars) is in it, I might give it a chance. They need to cut Justin Bruening's (as Mike Traceur) hair. Then maybe I'll tune in.

Here's the video preview:

Crusoe (Fridays 8pm Premiering Oct. 17th in 2 hr special) Here is the video preview:

America's Toughest Jobs (Mondays 9pm until Heroes begins on Sept. 22nd, Premiereing Aug. 25th)

Josh Temple (who?) hosts a show to find the toughest jobs in some reality show competition where people have to try them all and I'm guessing, survive. From the people who brought you Deadliest Catch and Ice Road Truckers (that means nothing to me).

Here's the video preview:

Flashpoint Fridays

Flashpoint starts on CBS and CTV tomorrow night (July 11th) at 10pm (Yes, Friday's. During the summer. Which is why I'm telling you now so you can pre-set your Tivo/PVR/DVR/VCR/RW-DVD today and watch the show over the weekend as you recover from all those Mojito's you're downing Friday night hopefully before you hit your own flashing point (cause you KNOW those pictures will make their way onto facebook nowadways)).

To be honest I have no idea if Flashpoint is any good and normally, I probably would have ignored it, but it's a Canadian show filmed in Toronto that actually takes PLACE in my hometown of Toronto. Here's the description of the show from the CBS website: FLASHPOINT is a drama that depicts the emotional journey into the tough, risk-filled lives of a group of cops in the SRU (inspired by Toronto's Emergency Task Force). It's a unique unit that rescues hostages, busts gangs, defuses bombs, climbs the sides of buildings and talks down suicidal teens. Members of a highly-skilled tactical team, they're also trained in negotiating, profiling and getting inside the suspect's head to diffuse the situation to try and save lives.

Uh, not another one of THOSE shows but whatever. Toronto as TORONTO! For once! AND CBS is showing it! A first since Due South. (I know, I want to say... boy, CBS sure got desperate when the writers strike hit, but I'm not going to because it's nice to finally see a Canadian show get picked up by a major US network for once, (next year, NBC will also show the Toronto made show The Listener) and now at least there's something other than Degrassi, children's shows and all those HGTV and Food Network shows that we export).

But here me out for real! Because it stars Enrico Colantoni of Veronica Mars and Just Shoot Me fame but based on Mars alone now, I'm forever in debt to him and I'm willing to give this a chance. I owe it to Daddy Mars.

Plus if you ever wondered what happened to Julie/Amy Jo Johnson after Ben ditched her for Felicity, apparently she lingered around and then moved to Canada to star in this series!

The show also stars Hugh Dillon, he from the band The Headstones, which was probably the only time I listened to heavy rock stuff solely because I thought he was kind of hot looking back then. Though boy, he sure got old now, still, he always seemed super cool to me.

The show also stars David Paetkau (Whistler, LAX) who adds the young hottie quotient.

ABC 2008-2009 Video Previews

Since ABC basically had the strongest lineup in 2007-2008, it will carry over the most shows thus leaving very few spots open. So there's really only 2 new shows (one drama, one reality game show) starting this fall (in addition to taking on Scrubs), and so far only one announced for midseason (a comedy) at this point (though apparently a few other pilots are still in development).

Life on Mars - Based on the excellent UK show, this new US version produced/not produced by David E. Kelley (is he on the project or not anymore?) is apparently having a LOT or problems and re-casting almost everyone, moving to New York for production and losing Kelley but the original trailer turned out better than I thought, though nothing like the originals' mood and subtlety but what can you expect from a US remake?

Here's the original Life on Mars trailer:

Opportunity Knocks - A new reality gameshow played on the front lawns of peoples homes. Is that J.D. Roth from DOUBLE DARE???

Here's the trailer:

Apparently at this point, it's still too early for midseason replacement The Goode Family because I cannot find a video clip for it anywhere.

The CW 2008-2009 Video Previews

I've sort of sat on this for a while and everybody's probably already seen it but I didn't really have time to post this properly before, but figure now that we are into summer re-runs, summer reality and I don't have as much to post about, it's time to start reeling out the previews for the Fall now that it's all getting closer.

So while I've already done Video Previews for CBS and FOX, I'll start to finish off the rest. Not that there's much since The CW really only has 2 new shows (I'm not counting reality show Stylista even though I have a clip below), ABC has only 2 new shows (The Goode Family and Life on Mars which is apparently being totally revamped anyways, and again, I'm not counting reality show Opprotunity Knocks)

Surviving the Filthy Rich UPDATE: Now renamed Privileged (what a dumb change) - Because RIna Mimoun is behind this show (she of the ever brilliant Everwood, Gilmore Girls and Pushing Daisies so there's hope yet. Plus it stars Joanna Garcia who I adored in Reba and Michael Cassidy who I just adore (from The OC). Plus the pilot was directed by someone who did 30 Rock. Interesting mix of people on THIS network especially. I just wish the 2 flithy rich girls (one played by the annoying Lucy Hale from Bionic Woman) and Joanna Garcia didn't all look so similar.:

Here's the trailer:

Here are 4 preview clips edited together:

90210 - It now stars Shenae Grimes (from Degrassi: TNG) so I'll have to check it out. I'm excited about Jessica Walter (Arrested Development) is in it but until then, I couldn't really care, but you know I'll end up watching anyways. I was never actually a huge fan of the original so I'm on a wait and see with this re-hash.

Here's the video preview:

Stylista - A new reality show where budding fashionistas get a chance to "work" for Anne Slowey of Elle Magazine. So The Devil Wears Prada: the reality show. The trailer makes me want to hurl like a model. And not to lose weight. Not JUST to lose weight. I'm sort of sick and tired of people being rewarded for being total power hungry bitches (Anne) or seeking to be power hungry bitches (the contestants).

Here's the trailer that will make you anorexic, so I guess it does do its job in promoting the modeling and fashion industry:

Let's Swingtown

Swingtown starts tonight at 10pm on CBS and Global.

I'm not sure how much I'll like it (reviews have been both good and bad) as I wasn't able to see the preview I got for it (I was having technical difficulties and it would never play with sound), but it does have a pretty great cast with a few favorites.

There's Jack Davenport from the British Coupling which is one of those shows whose cast I'm now completely devoted to. Just buy the Complete Series DVD. It's GREAT! Jack Davenport was probably more famous from being in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies but he was awesome in Coupling, the comedy about sex and love. Now he gets to time travel back to the swinging 70's in the drama about sex and love and swinging.

Always enjoyed looking at Josh Hopkins (Brothers & Sisters, Ally McBeal). Miriam Shor cemented herself as another favorite for being in Hedwig and the Angry Inch but she's even funny in mediocre stuff (like last years Big Day).

Then there is the return of Grant Show. I know he's been around but really, it's like he's disappeared since Melrose Place.

Finally, there's Canadian Molly Parker (Deadwood) who I still remember from the controversial Canadian movie Kissed (about a woman in love with a dead body, so this swinging thing is a step up).

I'm not crazy about Lana Parillo and the dated look looks well... dated and not in the ooooh, look how things used to look like on Mad Men, but I love enough people in the cast that I'll have to give this a try. Plus how can you not love this picture with the crazy cheesy smile on their faces looking another way.

CBS 2008-2009 Video Previews

I realised I never posted this the other week even though I had prepared this post but as you can see from my promptness, I seem REALLY excited about these new shows don't I? Anyways, it's CBS. If I AM excited and actually like a show, they will probably cancel it anyways (and the bitterness of Love Monkey's cancellation continues).

Project Gary - I used to love Jay Mohr. What happened?

Worst Week - Um, on paper, this sounds terrible but I actually laughed and I like Kyle Bornheimer as the naked man that always seems to screw up around his girlfriends parents. Sounds like a one-note movie but seems cute if unsubstantial and could possibly be a good guilty pleasure. I do need a replacement for Reba.

The Ex-List - The show that seems the most anti-CBS and really should be on ABC or The CW, but also the one with the most potential (if only because its from one of the Veronica Mars writers).

The Eleventh Hour - "Science takes a deadly turn in this gripping new mystery drama from acclaimed producer Jerry Bruckheimer". It'll be a hit that no one talks about. I'm bored already.

The Mentalist - Simon Baker! In this? Crap. The title alone makes me want to run away.

Harper's Island (Midseason) - It's a limited series. It takes place in a cold looking watery mountained environment. It looks scary and spooky. Did Twin Peaks need to be remade? Still, I'm intrigued but ONLY because Bill Pullman is in this, and some hot looking actors who I'm sure will all be killed by the end of the series save for 3, one who will be the killer, and the other 2 the good guys that save the day. No? (Though I still think this might flame out big time).

When Technology Attacks My Perfect Plans

You know, PVR's are so great (or some know it as DVR, not as fancy versions of Tivo's). It allows us to watch everything on Thursday night TV. Like being able to first watch the So You Think You Can Dance premiere, then the Ugly Betty finale, then the Grey's Anatomy finale, and still get to bed at a reasonable time. How great, on the night I was already debating about (and skipping the premiere of Indiana Jones for a later date). So great!

At least WHEN IT WORKS.

WHY OH WHY does it choose TODAY to keep screwing up, crashing constantly and rebooting itself every 5 minutes when I tried to watch anything on record?

This is a big deal. Um, my blog is CALLED Tapeworthy. That would presume I tape things to watch.

ARGH...

stoopid technology.

I know I know, there are typhoons, earthquakes, starvation, the Chinese government and the Republican party out there so life could be worse.

But THURSDAY NIGHT TV! ON ABC FINALE NIGHT! SYTYCD PREMIERE NIGHT! WHY OH WHY TONIGHT?

I'm so pissed off. Plus my Internet has been spotty too. I hate Rogers (the company that provides both cable TV and cable Internet here) even if it's not directly their fault. I'm that angry and irrational right now. I work long hours okay, and I usually get back after primetime starts, so I NEED this.

Murphy was out to spite me for having everything just too perfectly arranged right?

(You know my life is pretty good when this is the big catastrophe for the day).

So in the end I had to watch things live and catch up on the rest with the West coast feed. And skip sleep.

The 2008 Fall TV Upfronts - Fox

FOX has announced their new fall schedule and yawn... it's as uninteresting as ever. You know, they really do rely on American Idol to save themselves don't they?

Another year where FOX continues to rely on cultish (but not very good) shows, comedies that have mostly worn out their welcome, or cheap reality shows that even seem cheap by reality show standards.

Since I gave up on Prison Break and about to give up on Terminator unless it perks up fast, Mondays is a bore. Tuesday is the only day of interest with the new JJ Abrams show Fringe (with Joshua "Pacey" Jackson!) following a recharged House (which I think is better than ever again this past season). The terrific Bones goes to Wednesdays (sadly against another fave, Pushing Daisies on ABC), and then new show Do Not Disturb follows lame duck 'Til Death (this show hasn't died yet?). Fox just gave up on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, trying to get the lowest common denominator audience, and it keeps its animated Sundays in tact.

No huge surprises. Yawn. The new Dollhouse from Josh Whedon is being saved for midseason along with 24 and American Idol.

I'm excited about Fringe and Dollhouse but Fox is not exactly known to nurture their critically acclaimed shows and usually kill them off before they have a chance to gain an audience. So I'm not getting my hopes yet just yet. I've been burned far too many times before.

The following new drama will premiere this fall on FOX:

FRINGE (Tuesdays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT): From J.J. Abrams (Lost), Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the team behind Star Trek, Mission: Impossible III and Alias, comes a new drama that will thrill, terrify and explore the blurring line between science fiction and reality. When an international flight lands at Boston's Logan Airport and the passengers and crew have all died grisly deaths, FBI Special Agent OLIVIA DUNHAM (newcomer Anna Torv) is called in to investigate. After her partner, Special Agent JOHN SCOTT (Mark Valley, Boston Legal), is nearly killed during the investigation, a desperate Olivia searches frantically for someone to help, leading her to DR. WALTER BISHOP (John Noble, Lord of the Rings), our generation's Einstein. There's only one catch: he's been institutionalized for the last 20 years, and the only way to question him requires pulling his estranged son PETER (Joshua Jackson, Dawson's Creek) in to help. When Olivia's investigation leads her to manipulative corporate executive NINA SHARP (Blair Brown, Altered States), our unlikely trio along with fellow FBI Agents PHILLIP BROYLES (Lance Reddick, The Wire), CHARLIE FRANCIS (Kirk Acevedo, Oz) and ASTRID FARNSWORTH (Jasika Nicole, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) will discover that what happened on Flight 627 is only a small piece of a larger, more shocking truth.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS: J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Burk, Jeff Pinkner, Alex Graves (pilot)

WRITERS: J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman

DO NOT DISTURB (working title) (Wednesdays, 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT): DO NOT DISTURB (working title) is a hilarious workplace comedy set at one of New York City's hottest and hippest hotels: The Inn. Named one of the Big Apple's "10 Best Places to Stay," The Inn is just that the "in" place to be, with its chic dcor, stylish staff and celebrity clientele. Behind the scenes, however, the upstairs/downstairs dynamic tells quite a different story. The hotel's top-notch reputation and sophisticated look is due in large part to NEAL (Jerry O'Connell, Crossing Jordan) at least in his opinion. Although The Inn's charismatic owner R.J. (guest star Robert Wagner) takes all the credit, Neal is the egotistical, hyper-stylish, detail-oriented general manager who will do whatever it takes to keep the hotel and its employees up to his standards. RHONDA (Niecy Nash, Reno 911!) is the head of Human Resources who also keeps Neal's demands in check. She's brash, fabulous and brutally honest and runs the HR department from her bullpen downstairs with a set of rules that are all her own. Rhonda does her best to keep the back of the house in line and the front of the house out of trouble. At the front desk handling check-in while wearing 6-inch Manolos is NICOLE (Molly Stanton, Twins), an aging model who is svelte, cynical and slightly starving. Fresh from Nebraska is JASON (Brando Eaton, Zoey 101), the nave bellman who would prefer to work behind-the-scenes, but was hired to show off his chiseled face and perfect pecs at the front of the hotel. The downstairs staff includes MOLLY (Jolene Purdy, Donnie Darko), a reservations clerk who dreams of pop-singer stardom as much as she craves to be part of the action upstairs; and LARRY (Jesse Tyler Ferguson, The Class), the head of housekeeping who spends more time on the phone cleaning up his messes at home than he does cleaning up after the guests upstairs.

PRODUCTION COMPANIES: 20th Century Fox Television; Reveille, LLC; Principato-Young Productions

EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS: Abraham Higginbotham, Howard Owens, Carolyn Bernstein, Paul Young, Peter Principato, Brian Dobbins

WRITER: Abraham Higginbotham

DOLLHOUSE (Mondays, 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT): Joss Whedon, creator of groundbreaking cult favorites Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, returns to television and reunites with fellow Buffy alumna Eliza Dushku for a thrilling new drama, DOLLHOUSE. ECHO (Dushku) is an "Active," a member of a highly illegal and underground group who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Confined to a secret facility known as the "Dollhouse," Echo and the other Actives including SIERRA (Dichen Lachman, Neighbours) and VICTOR (Enver Gjokaj, The Unit) carry out engagements assigned by ADELLE (Olivia Williams, X-Men: The Last Stand, Rushmore), one of the Dollhouse leaders. The engagements cater to the wealthy, powerful and connected, and require the Actives to immerse themselves in all manner of scenarios romantic, criminal, uplifting, dangerous, comical and the occasional "pro bono" good deed. After each scenario, Echo, always under the watchful eye of her handler BOYD (Harry Lennix, Commander in Chief, 24), returns to the mysterious Dollhouse where her thoughts, feelings and experiences are erased by TOPHER (Fran Kranz, Welcome to the Captain), the Dollhouse's genius programmer. Echo enters the next scenario with no memory of before. Or does she? As the series progresses, FBI Agent PAUL SMITH (Tahmoh Penikett, Battlestar Galactica) pieces together clues that lead him closer to the Dollhouse, while Echo stops forgetting, her memories begin to return and she slowly pieces together her mysterious past. DOLLHOUSE revolves around Echo's blossoming self-awareness and her desire to discover her true identity. But with each new engagement, comes a new memory and increased danger inside and outside the Dollhouse.

PRODUCTION COMPANIES: 20th Century Fox Television, Mutant Enemy Inc.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/WRITER/DIRECTOR: Joss Whedon

CAST: Eliza Dushku as Echo, Olivia Williams as Adelle, Tahmoh Penikett as Paul, Fran Kranz as Topher, Dichen Lachman as Sierra, Enver Gjokaj as Victor, Harry Lennix as Boyd

SECRET MILLIONAIRE (Thursdays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT): SECRET MILLIONAIRE is a dramatic unscripted series that takes America's wealthiest individuals away from their lavish lifestyles, sprawling mansions and private planes and places them undercover into some of the most impoverished neighborhoods in America. Shot under the guise of a documentary, the series reveals the dramatic personal return that millionaires will get when they leave their fortunes to invest in those less fortunate. Challenged with living on minimum wage, the millionaires will immerse themselves in situations beyond their comprehension. They will work side-by-side with community members and befriend those in need to decide who should ultimately receive their gifts of a lifetime. The millionaires will be touched by the people they meet. Some will inspire with their dedication to helping others, while others will relay stories of overcoming tremendous odds. On the final day, the Secret Millionaires meet with the chosen recipients and reveal their true identity and intention: to give them at least $100,000 oftentimes more of their own money and to change their lives forever. SECRET MILLIONAIRE will engage viewers in important social issues, extol the virtues of volunteerism and change the lives of disadvantaged people and the philanthropists who helped them in unexpected ways.

PRODUCTION COMPANY: RDF USA

EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS: Chris Coelen, Greg Goldman, Bruce Toms

THE CLEVELAND SHOW (working title) (Sundays, 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT): Animated Show: Many years ago, CLEVELAND BROWN (voiced by Mike Henry) was a high school student madly in love with a beautiful girl named DONNA. Much to his dismay, his love went unrequited, and Donna wound up marrying another man. Cleveland once told Donna he would always love her, and if this man ever done her wrong, he'd be there when she called. Well, this man done her wrong. Donna's husband skipped town with another woman, leaving Donna with a daughter and a baby. Now she's come to Cleveland and offered him another chance at love. Unattached after the Loretta-Quagmire debacle and true to his word, Cleveland joyously accepts and he and CLEVELAND JR. move to Stoolbend, VA, to join their new family. Once in Stoolbend, Cleveland has a few surprises in store for him, including a flirtatious new stepdaughter, a 5-year-old stepson who loves the ladies, as well as a collection of neighbors that includes a loudmouth redneck couple, a British family seemingly stuck in the Victorian era and a family of bears living at the end of the block. FAMILY GUY was only the beginning. Get ready for THE CLEVELAND SHOW (working title)!

PRODUCTION COMPANY: 20th Century Fox Television

EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS: Seth MacFarlane, Rich Appel, Mike Henry

VOICE CAST: Mike Henry as Cleveland Brown

SIT DOWN, SHUT UP (working title) (Sundays, 8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT): Animated Show: From Emmy Award-winning writer Mitchell Hurwitz (Arrested Development) and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum (Two and a Half Men) comes SIT DOWN, SHUT UP (working title), an animated comedy that focuses on the lives of eight staff members at a high school in a small northeastern fishing town (Go Baiters!) who never lose sight of the fact that the children must ALWAYS come second. We watch them grapple with their own egos, needs and personal agendas, their petty insecurities and prejudices, unrequited loves, and ruthless battles for power and that's just at the staff meeting. SUE SEZNO (Kenan Thompson, Saturday Night Live), a woman who frequently says "no," is the acting principal of the school (the actual principal is recovering from a series of unfortunate accidents that might be seen as escape attempts). Then there's Vice Principal STUART PROZACKIAN (Will Forte, Saturday Night Live) who has a terrifically positive and upbeat attitude... possibly from the performance-enhancing medication he's been secretly put on by the other teachers. There is one educator who feels the focus should be on academics, but despite the old adage, at this school, those who can teach, teach gym and that's where LARRY SLIMP (Jason Bateman, Juno, Arrested Development) has been exiled to. Immensely frustrated, Larry nurses a crush on science teacher MIRACLE GROHE (Maria Bamford, Stuart Little 2), a woman whose superficial grasp on science is balanced by her superficial grasp on spirituality. Rounding out the staff is the aging German teacher WILLARD DEUTSCHEBOG (Henry Winkler, Arrested Development, Happy Days), a deeply defeated man whose yearbook quotation reads "If I believed in reincarnation, I'd kill myself tonight." Uptight HELEN KLENCH (Cheri Oteri, Saturday Night Live) is a librarian whose life's work in research and archiving can now be surpassed by the average Google search from the average cell phone. Proud ANDREW SAPIEN (Nick Kroll, Best Week Ever, Cavemen) is the flamboyant drama teacher. ENNIS HOFFTARD (Will Arnett, Arrested Development) is a fellow teacher and a self-obsessed body builder who yearns to be thought of as a "cool dude" by his students. And finally there's HAPPY (Tom Kenny, SpongeBob SquarePants), the plotting secretive custodian who's assumed to be Hispanic despite the fact that his real name is Muhannad Sabeeh Fa'ach Nuaba. With a distinctive new look a combination of animation against a live-action backdrop SIT DOWN, SHUT UP is a series for the young and old at heart. It lampoons modern society while exposing the dreams, flaws and struggling humanity of our first and most formative authority figures: teachers.
