God Bless You For New Cast Recordings!

I'm giving away more new cast recordings!

New recordings of lesser known shows are being released on CD by Sh-K-Boom Records Friday, July 28th 2017, giving us these shows for posterity with some incredible cast members.

The Encores' Kurt Vonnegut's God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, the first little heard musical by iconic duo Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) had a recent Encores presentation at New York City Center and now it's been recorded so that we can listen to early Ashman/Menken through the glorious voices of Santino Fontana, Skylar Astin, Brynn O'Malley, Rebecca Naomi Jones and even James Earl Jones!

A new musical based on the cult 2001 film is now a new musical Bubble Boy by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. It was presented as a special concert at Feinstein's/54 Below with a cast that includes Alice Ripley, A.J. Holmes, Matt Doyle, Richard Kind, Nehal Joshi, and Gerard Canonico. Now preserved wonderfully in this recording, also out Friday, July 28th 2017

Win the Holiday Inn Musical or War Paint OBCRs!

I'm giving away some Original Broadway Cast Recordings! Thanks to Ghostlight Records and Sh-K-Boom Records, we're going to celebrate the release of the new CD cast recordings for new musicals War Paint and Holiday Inn. Both are currently available digitally, with War Paint OBCR set for CD release on July 14, 2017, and the Holiday Inn OBCR on CD out on July 21, 2017.

Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn OBCR stars Bryce Pinkham, Megan Lawrence, Danny Rutigliano, Megan Sikora and Corbin Bleu. The music is of course Irving Berlin's classic music from the film of the same name, now with a book by Gordon Greenberg and Chad Hodge.

You probably think of Holiday Inn being famous for its Christmas song "White Christmas" but the musical takes us through all the seasons and every major American holiday with some of Berlin's most famous classics including "Easter Parade", "Blue Skies", "Stepping Out With My Baby", and "Holiday Inn/Happy Holiday"!

War Paint OBCR stars Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole, in a new musical with music by Scott Frankel, Lyrics by Michael Korie, and a book by Doug Wright.

The new musical from the writers of the musical Grey Gardens, "tells the remarkable story of Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden—fierce rivals who defined 20th Century beauty. In creating an industry, they reinvented themselves and revolutionized how the world saw women."

Here's your chance to WIN a CD or digital copy of the musical OBCR's!:

To win a copy of Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn OBCR, Quote Retweet (or Retweet and reply) this tweet and tell me what your favourite holiday is, and include the hashtag #HolidayInnMusical

Experience Queen of the Mist!

Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight has been nice enough to send me the new Queen of the Mist Original Cast Recording CD and while I missed the original Off-Broadway run by Transport Group, I'm loving the fact that I get to experience Mary Testa's brassy and bold leading turn in Michael John LaChiusa's new musical. I'll have a full review coming soon, but I get to share the OCR experience, as I'm giving away a copy of the Queen of the Mist OCR CD to 2 lucky readers!

QUEEN OF THE MIST features music and lyrics by five-time Tony nominee Michael John LaChiusa (The Wild Party, Marie Christine, Hello Again). The show, originally commissioned and produced by Transport Group, received the 2012 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. The recording was made possible with generous support from The Shen Family Foundation.

QUEEN OF THE MIST’s cast recording features performances by original cast members D.C. Anderson, Stanley Bahorek, Theresa McCarthy, Julia Murney, Andrew Samonsky, Tally Sessions and Mary Testa. Queen of the Mist was directed by five-time Drama Desk nominee Jack Cummings III (Hello Again, See Rock City & Other Destinations, The Boys in the Band). Orchestrations are by Tony Award winner Michael Starobin. The album was produced by Joel Moss, Kurt Deutsch and Michael John LaChiusa.

Based on an astounding and outrageous true story, two-time Tony nominee Mary Testa stars in QUEEN OF THE MIST as Anna Edson Taylor, who, in 1901 at the age of 63, set out to be the first woman to shoot Niagara Falls in a barrel of her own design. Navigating both the treacherous Falls and a fickle public with a ravenous appetite for sensationalism, this unconventional heroine vies for her legacy in a world clamoring with swindling managers, assassins, revolutionaries, moralizing family, anarchists and activists. Convinced that there is greatness in her and determined not to live as ordinary, she sets out to battle her fear and tempt her fate.

With a soaring score that incorporates turn of the century themes with LaChiusa’s signature complexity and insight, QUEEN OF THE MIST is the story of a single great fall, and how one woman risked death so that she could live. QUEEN OF THE MIST continues the long collaboration between Transport Group and Mr. LaChiusa, which includes the critically acclaimed Drama Desk-nominated productions of First Lady Suite and Hello Again.

Get Burned Again! The Burn Notice Contest

Burn Notice returns again tomorrow, June 4th, just in time to heat up the summer with Season 3 on USA in its new timeslot at 9pm (8pm Central) on Thursdays!

One of my favorite series continues just where Season 2 left off, but in case you haven't watched them yet, I won't spoil it here, so catch up with the DVD's. Don't have them yet? Win them in a prize pack!

- All you have to do is figure out, without using the show Burn Notice, what the least degrees of separation is between John Mahoney (who was in the season 2 finale) and the show's star Jeffrey Donovan. Outline all the steps (using TV and Films and the actors in connection) and the person with the least amount of steps wins. Of course, in this age of imdb, I'll probably get a few similar ones or equal numbers. In that case, I will draw from all those who tie for the best solution. If you are using a TV show, the two actors connecting must have been in the same episode (so using an actor who started on a show after the other one left does not count, unless they crossed over).

- Email me at tapeworthycontest at gmail dot com with your solution.

- Contest closes at 11:59pm PST on Thursday June 18th 2009. So you'll have plenty of time to figure it out.

- Please subject the email: BURN NOTICE CONTEST and please include your name, email and City and State or Province,

- Contest is open to residents of Canada and the USA.

- Only one winner will be chosen.
I will ask for further details if you are the winner. Only the one winner will be contacted.

The deets:
Burn Notice is back at an all new time, 9pm/8c! Season 3 picks up right where season 2 left off with Michael swimming in the Atlantic. Michael emerges from the water free from interference by the organization that burned him. He's not under their protection, either, and is under investigation by the police. He gets out of prison with help from his old friend, who has a job for him: extraditing a thug who's displacing landowners in a Latin American country.
