The Art of the Pick Up

Okay, I read this last night and while I hate that Ausiello has all these blind items leading to wildly floating rumours, this time at least it's for the sake good and not evil, only if we can figure out what beloved comedy show he thinks is on the bubble (that none of us had even realised). My initial guess seems to point to How I Met Your Mother, and most comments seem to agree, so if it is true, GET CRACKING PEOPLE! Along with 30 Rock and The Office, How I Met Your Mother is my favorite comedy currently on TV, and I'm sure the only reason more people don't watch it is because it is on CBS. A good smart funny comedy about young people on CBS? They killed Love Monkey last year already, don't let them kill How I Met Your Mother!

On better news, ABC picked up Men In Trees (my cotton candy of television), Brothers & Sisters and of course Ugly Betty (on tonight with Patti LuPone as Marc's mother!) along with a few others, most of which wasn't a surprise (like Lost, Desperate Housewives, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Grey's Anatomy, Dancing With The Stars).

Prison Break is back on Fox and apparently it's going international with a mostly new crew, though they say the mains will stay (Wentworth Miller I guess? They can't lose the pinup can they? Or the only reason the female and gay population tune in?). So much for the 2-season only show they stated when the show first started.

Meanwhile, the campaign to save Veronica Mars continues. I love it and will continue watching it no matter where Veronica ends up (more college? or FBI?) plus, it's not like The CW has anything else good to put in it's place? (or in any of its timeslots). Granted, I know the numbers are abysmal and I have either little faith in the American viewing audience or at least those with the Neilsen ratings box, so I can see why it's on the bubble, but How I Met Your Mother???

As I've noted already a few times this week and many times before, START watching Friday Night Lights, though rumour is NBC will probably pick it up for a second season just based on the confidence of its critical acclaim alone (all completely warranted).

Oh yeah, and I've stated before, Degrassi: The Next Generation was picked up for a 7th season, and Instant Star for a 4th on The N and CTV.

Breaking Up - Prison Break

Okay. I think I'm officially breaking up with Prison Break because it is too exhausting to hop 2 steps forward only to fall 4 steps back and there are two other things I would rather watch in the same time slot (Corner Gas and How I Met Your Mother) and not enough effort to coordinate recording all three. And now that City is carrying Battlestar Galactica, if I had a third this one might be it.

Plus, now that they killed off Abruzzi and plan to basically kill everyone else off slowly, I just don't care anymore if Michael gets his millions of loot. The show is still exciting in bit moments but since in the end usually on an overall scale, it equates to nothing since they end up writing something silly or easy that negates the whole problem, I'm getting too frustrated to deal.

So Prison Break, I'm breaking up with you for now and at most, might catch up later on DVD.

Let the taping begin!

It's Monday, August 21st 2006. Let the new TV Fall 2006 Season begin! Thanks to Fox which is jumping the gun starting off Prison Break and Vanished tonight, Bones and House in the following two weeks, while we slowly peter off from the summer realities of beaches, beer and Big Brother. I'll be trying to revamp this site to include my list of shows to watch for the week, and some other stuff if I can figure it all out (and have time to actually do it). NOTE: SEE NEW SIDEBARS!

I'll have to see if I decide to devote another year to the excitement and frustration that is Prison Break, and will have to see if Vanished was named a bit too well.

Still, time to start prepping up those Tivo's, PVR's, or VCR's for this busy fall season (some timeslots have changed) (or gasp... actually watch live? Though not tonight! It's John Mayer's only club gig on his new tour for me tonight)!

Prison Break, The New Adventures of Old Christine, What About Brian

Like they couldn’t see that truck coming from a mile away? They were in the middle of the field… or was that the whole point?

Not the greatest Christine, cause I think I already miss Burton, but if the whole show was just a set up to bring back Sad Dad (guest star Andy Richter), it was worth it. Also, loving Hamish Linklater in a comedic role (as Christine’s brother).

So What About Brian? I SO want another singles dating show, and now that Love Monkey is cancelled for sure, I was hoping this would be the one to fill in the gap between Felicity and thirtysomething, I’m not sure this is it, but STILL giving it a chance (remember, I’m the hopeless romantic, much like Brian, which is probably why I believe he stayed with crazy Car Girl for so long). Still, they could learn from their own show Felicity or Everwood and stretch out stories a little longer and develop them with much more depth. The whole open marriage arc within the first two episodes would have lasted half a season on Everwood (then again, since no one watches Everwood, maybe people just don’t want depth? and are you feeling my love for Everwood? Can I say Everwood any more often? The CW, are you listening?).

House, Prison Break

Are they going there again with House and Cameron? ugh.

Hey, it's Will Mackenzie as the father of the sick child. Didn't Kate kill him off? Wonder how Tutti is...

On Prison Break, glad LJ is back, but COME ON. JUST SHOOT the MOTHERF#$KING Bastard who killed your mom. Just SHOOT.

Still entertaining in all its convoluted plots, not sure if I still buy Dr. Druggie Dependent though.

Grey's Anatomy, Veronica Mars, Prison Break

I'm going to sneak in this post for Grey's Antomy, last week's Veronica Mars, and Prison Break this week.

How hot was George and Callie in the crazy hospital basement loft? How eerie is it that George and Thatcher really do look a bit alike? and How confusing is it that Chris O'Donnell looks like McSteamy (who apparently has been signed on for 13 eps next season), at least momentarily when we first see him?

George Michael and Maebe really should just move to Neptune next year and join Veronica at Hurst College.

I KNEW the guy wasn't dead on Prison Break! But, could't they just have faked a sickness or something then if they needed him dead? It's not like they NEEDED Lincoln to die, they just needed a scapegoat. Again, wouldn't a fake heart attack have been easier?

[Prison Break] The Rat

I HATE this show! I HATE it with a passion. Then why do you watch it? You may ask. Because I can't help but watch it! It's like a train wreck, I don't want to look, but I can't help myself.

If you were really looking forward to the return of PB but missed it for some reason, don't worry. NOTHING HAPPENS. It's apparently the last 24 hours of Lincoln's life. The escape is thwarted by a replaced vent, the sabotage of the chair is thwarted by Tweener & Bellick, Veronica's appeal is thwarted by the federal judge and Dr. Tancredi's appeal is thwarted by her father the Govenor and the Veep. (Turns out the Gov is in cahoots with the Veep. Dun Dun DUNNNN!) We end with a dejected Lincoln entering the "Death Chamber".

And even though NOTHING HAPPENS, I am hooked. I cannot flip to another channel, hear the phone ring or even get up to take a bathroom break! I'm enthralled. Tears are freely flowing as Veronica, LJ and Michael say their "final" goodbyes to Lincoln. Logically, I know this show is waaaaay too convenient, contrived even, and you really have to be willing to suspend all disbelief in order to buy what they are selling. But I'm willing and I'm buying. And at the end of the episode when faced with another so-called "cliffhanger," I'm back to being PO'd at myself for getting sucked in once again. Arrgh! This is why I hate this show....
