I'd have a post about G shows Greek and Gossip Girl but we aren't getting them in Canada now and I'm still bitter about it... think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts...

So I will continue my beloved devotion to my B list shows like Bones. I still haven't given it the Bolded Red 4 Stars pass (see Tapeworthy sidebar), but it's always on the cusp of getting into my top shows. It has the handicap of being a procedural holding it back. I know. Unfair especially since it excels where the typical procedurals falters, in that it gives humanity to its characters, humour in a dark grim world, and romance in the cold scientific calculations of all that lab forensics. From the way this season is playing out, the show probably does deserve to move into my 4 stars category.

This week, Bones and Booth find a baby amongst the remains of his mother and Bones becomes an automatic foster parent. Watching the scientific mind of Bones try to reason with the baby was priceless. I just love her literal frankness to it all.

Meanwhile, loved that Angela loved the baby and wanted a billion of them, and that Hodgins was happy to oblige, at least until his realization that a billion is a lot. Loved that he hoped a "billion" means 2.

Say what you will about my guilty pleasure The Big Bang Theory but the moment Sheldon went into the "future" with their newly bought time machine and the geeks ran around the apartment in superspeed (like a movie on fast forward), I was on the floor laughing. That was downright hysterical!

Finally, I wasn't going to bring up Beauty and the Geek since they basically pawned off a repackaged "clips" episode last week that makes the studio execs very very happy for saving lots of money on an already cheap show to shoot, but we got to see a new makeover from a geek that was already kicked off the show. So I fell for it and watched the entire episode. (Damn! I'm always a sucker for this show and especially the makeovers!)

Jim, who I admit, I barely remembered and barely cared for, got his whole 70's hippies look made over and honestly, in a year where none of the actual makeovers made a huge impact, this one was truly stunning and unrecognizable. Seriously, the new Jim, still geekily cute, looked DAMN good! He even mentioned they told him he looked like Ryan Gosling (which he actually kinda did) even though Jim didn't know who that was.

He kinda gave me the whole singer/songwriter vibe like Josh Kelley or John Mayer. Seriously, unrecognizable.

Tapeworthy - Bones, Samantha Who?, Corner Gas, Beauty and the Geek

Just random shows I've been watching that I just wanted to mention and give my 2 cents this week on things I continue to find Tapeworthy.

How terrific was the return of one of the most romantic and one of the funniest shows around? Bones got right into the mood with that romantic escape into the mud pits for a young hot couple until they find a dead body in the mud. Ew!

The squints are back in the lab, Angela is back to being lovely, and Bones and Booth are back to their bantering ways, and I loved every minute of it.

But let's talk about the best scene of all, the double date with Dr. Sweet (John Francis Daley) and his girlfriend doing clay pottery with Booth and Bones during an "excursion". And let the awkwardness fly along with the clay spinning on those spiny things! Loved when Sweet tried to apologize for his girlfriend after Bones' usual literal diatribes and loved how Booth tries to smooth things out. It was a great little interplay of four very different personalities and it's what this show does best!

Even without going into the continuing stories like Gorgamon or Angela's ex, the show speeds by with actual human emotions and character development without losing the case-of-the-week steam (which I TOTALLY thought would be wheelchair man because Chris Martin (not Coldplay guy, Canadian actor from Tom Stone, Felicity) played him (no?) and the creepy lawyer guy played by Lost's M.C. Gainey was too obvious. And STILL I was wrong!).

You know, I was REALLY liking Samantha Who? before it went off the air from the writers strike/losing Dancing with the Stars lead-in and while I never necessarily thought of it as a comedy (it's really more of a drama with funny situations), I really didn't feel the return of Samantha Who? was funny at all, but I really want to like this show. I really do! I think it has something to do with Christina Applegate who I just really want to like, and the fantastic supporting cast.

At least the second episode was funnier, with Samantha dealing with the loss of Todd to Kiele Sanchez (who in theory I should like but always seems forced upon (see her quick death on Lost)) and then dealing with her boss coming on to her. Which would be really funny if it weren't for the fact that Timothy Olyphant (above), who plays Samantha's boss, looks a bit like Barry Watson (Todd, below). Still, there were some better moments, especially with Andrea.

I still watch every episode of Corner Gas, the one lone Canadian comedy hit (sorry, I don't count the CBC stuff because none of it is actually funny anymore) so I'm saddened to hear that next years 6th season will be the last, as Brent Butt will be ending the show while it still is actually funny.

Still loving the dry humour and anything Hank does. The entire cast is terrific (and it threw me off a bit when I passed by The Perfect Storm and saw Janet Wright in a dramatic role in a big Hollywood movie but it just shows how awesome she is as the sarcastic Emma). Loved the B&B that Leroy set up unbeknownst to Emma. The bit with The Mighty Ducks' Travis Moen showing up in Dog River somehow worked hilariously, even with Moen's deer-in-the-headlights acting. Love everything the Davis and Karen do as the cops, and love Wanda's sarcastic retorts.

Been loving the whole season so far (and series so far) and glad there will be one more at least to go, but I'll actually miss the comfort of hanging out with the folks of Dog River at Corner Gas every week.

Finally, the best part of Beauty and the Geek is the makeovers (oh, okay, the inner change of the Beauties and the outer confidence growth of the Geeks is great too but seriously, the makeovers is the most fun to watch) episode so it was a little disappointing when last weeks makeovers probably made most of the guys worse looking. Seriously, Tommy looked better before. Chris was WAY more adorable before, now he just looks like they scalped half his hair off. Greg looks essentially the same, Jason looked slimier with his new look, and Matt looked equally as geeky (but adorable still) but with more hair gel.

Only Joe made a vast improvement on the outside, but sadly, his inside was getting uglier, when he really started to make things worse in every situation. Like spitting on Randi after an argument.

Of course, Randi brought out the biatch in her, setting the ultimate rivalry with poor sweet Greg and poor sweet Tara (who I was really liking, although maybe partially because she reminds me of Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother, American Pie, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as the poor pawns caught up in Joe and Randi's war of words.

Alas, there was no elimination in last week's makeover episode (because it's just that special!) but sadly, Randi and Greg were sent home from Joe's initial scuffle. And Joe, the lone annoying figure left in the house remains, but at least Tara gets to stay.

Beauty and the Geek - Against Vs.

Let's just forget about the whole Beauties vs. Geeks twist to Season 5 since that was a big mistake. Not only did it knock out one of my early faves John E. right away, all it did was turn the beauties portion into another ANTM squabblefest (which is why I can't do that show, no matter how many gays and girls tell me how awesome it is), and it kept the beauties from bonding with the geeks which is the whole joy of the show.

So they finally partnered them up after the third episode, but only after already losing Jillian, one of the few girls I liked (or could even tell apart). At least the new format got rid of Amber quickly. It feels like she's been on my TV for WAY too long already. I can't believe it was only 2 episodes.

So, I still can't tell any of the beauties apart, except for Randi because she's the "black" one remaining. If it weren't for that, I'd have no idea either.

Cara though, with her super high helium voice which doesn't match her look, is standing out fast for being super cute and winning the Science Fair award with the help of her supercute partner Chris and they are quickly becoming my favorite pairing, even before they won the Beauties challenge last night.

As for the rest of the geeks, Tommy is already kinda hot normal though I do wonder about him for not seeing Amber's strategic advances.

"Cowboy" Joe annoys me to no end.

Kid=like Matt is adorably tragic. Gaysian Greg is tragically adorable. (I'm not sure if that really means anything different, just sounds "clever").

Meanwhile, did you see Jason's abs in the talent show? WHAT?

I'm not sure if that's hot or odd.

Beauty And The Geek - Ever Ever After

And the Winner Is... - Ep. 413 - Season Finale

(Yes, I'm listening to Carrie Underwood's "Ever Ever After" from the Enchanted Soundtrack right now...)

My friend messaged me warning about the lameness about the whole "live" finale show so by the time I watched Beauty and the Geek last night (after Gossip Girl) I was prepared for the lame cheesy audience reaction shots and poorly edited "live" finale.

The great news was that the whole reunion was a great reminder of the fun times and the great geeks we've had all season (uh, what happened to Josh, I mean he wasn't bad looking before but he's HOT now... though still geekily awkward as ever! How painful/hilarious was it to watch him take his shirt off to show off the new hot hairless bod? AND THEN get an oil masssage from Rebecca?) and how much we learned to love the beauties. I mean, every season is the same but oh, how well it all works!? How can you hate these geeks and beauties after their time together?

There was the requisite awkward moments like Will apologizing for his kingly attitude and Mike Richards forcing Jasmine to touch the spider (not a euphemism).

Still, the reminders of just how geeky Joshua was, was just simply the funniest thing, and when they brought out his mom, it was such a nice sweet moment when his mom bonded with his Beauty "mom" Shay that I almost got a little teary eyed (if I wasn't already teary from laughter).

So finally, in a season with the big TWIST of a male beauty Sam and girl geek Nicole (who really really seemed sweet and learned to grow out of her shell), the final vote, left to America (or anybody with access to the internet and could make up an American address) voted for: David and Jasmine to win! WOOHOO!

In a testament to them, a replay of their awkward first night reminded us how much was stacked against them, but when Josh and Shay called them out for lack of growth, they stepped up their game, bonded and won the whole damn thing. I love that Josh was asked point blank if he regretted that move and I LOVED that he genuinely wasn't. That it was part of the experience, to help them all grow (tear), and I loved that David and Jasmine actually seemed to miss each other between the 4 months of filming and this finale. So although it would have been nice to have Nicole take a share, (Sam was entertaining but I'm not sure I could hack him winning) I'm glad David (who I disliked at the start... oh. I guess I grew like a beauty too and learned my lesson...) and the adorable Jasmine won the whole damn thing.

House of Beauties and the Game of Survivor

House - You Don't Want to Know - Ep. 408

Oh damn, I thought the Black Mormon/Father (What is he really at this point? I don't know what House is joking about anymore and what isn't) was going to prevail and join the team (and be a replacement Foreman). Was that too straight forward in colour casting?

Love that House gives immunity to whomever could get Cuddy's red panties AND they get to choose who is up for elimination. Evil Bitch and Plastic Surgeon dude conspire together but fail. Thirteen is too busy noticing the shakes in her hand and trying to hide it from House to play along.

Meanwhile, a magician is mystifying House and company, something with bleeding but really, with his magic tricks. Watching House think he knows the tricks and yet is totally baffled was terrific. Guess the know it all didn't know it all.

Cole manages to snag Cuddy's panties (with a nice verification trick by House), and the game is on as everyone gives him reasons why they should stay on the House island. Love that Taub tries to buy him off, while Kutner simply tells him he's not really competition playing the Richard Hatch trick.

In the end, Thirteen had been drinking caffeinated coffee that House switched underneath her nose, giving her the shakes and not from a possible hereditary disease her mom had, while Cole gets fired after Cole puts up Kutner and Taub for elimination and House sees that Cuddy and Cole had conspired together to get her choices through.

Wilson still needs more lines while Cameron and Chase must be trying to reconcile their real-life relationship problems.

On Beauty and the Geek, it's the final three and time for whining. Actually, wine. There's an obstacle course as the challenge, where teams must pick grapes, stomp them, and use the juices to fill 3 bottles to be carried over to the host (who I still don't know his name even though he's one of the most likable reality hosts this side of Phil Keoghan).

Anyways, as funny as Sam has become, Sam and Nicole always win so I didn't want them to win. And since Jen and Will still hate each other (but were easing up... a bit), by default, I wanted Dave and Jasmine to win, even though they had no physical abilities between the two of them... yet... THEY WON!!! WOOHOO!!!

This left the other two teams to fend for themselves in the elimination round, but not after some video reviews of the beauties and the geeks initial introductions. Loved that Will and Jen were really fighting right from the start and not some growing thing. Interesting to see the others realise that after watching the videos.

Anyways, alas, their bickering probably hindered them, or Sam is smarter than his model good looks would say, but Nicole and Sam prevailed again, eliminating Will and Jen. Some fake lovey dovey things were said, (actually, it was awkward but sweet) and off they go their separate ways. Love that Will and Jen were STILL insisting each were right in the case of the weight of fat and muscle.

I don't have much time but while we still have TV to talk about, let's discuss:

How I Met Your Mother - YAY! Literally! Marshall passed the bar! "Lawsuit up!"!!! Lindsay Price (who DOES she know that she keeps getting her onto shows? Though she was funny here and actually the only good thing in Lipstick Jungle) is Ted's new girlfriend Cathy who the gang hates because of her incessant talking. (Robin: (on Cathy) "She's a keeper, just keep her somewhere else"). This starts a round where everyone points out everyone else's annoyances.

Best one, Marshall singing everything he does.

Or Lily's loud chewing/crunching. Marshall: (to Lily) "I love you, but when you eat it sounds like a garbage disposal full of drywall screws."

Or Robin always saying "literally". Barney: "Don't they teach you vocabulary in Canada?" Marshall: "They don't, Literally, they don't". (They really don't.)

Next week: Slapsgiving!!! The Countdown closes in!

On Bones: Booth is THAT guy. THAT guy in high school. We all knew that. The squints all knew that. Booth does not know that. Sweet wants Booth to reveal a revealing, embarrassing moment to Bones and he tries, but they always end up being stories of someone else being embarrassed. Meanwhile, a High School Time Capsule is opened and a body is discovered within the nasty liquids and mementos of the 80's (floppy discs! A-tracks! Boom boxes!). Ew. Patrick Fabian/Prof. Landry is back (yet again, who does HE know for popping up on every show?) so automatically I assume he's the killer, but alas, he's not. In fact, he was clueless to the fact that his wife had an affair and that his son is really the son of the murdered computer geek. This brings back all the high school roles into the lab, with Bones leading as Brainy Smurf while Booth is obviously THAT guy. Personally, I was the guy that knew enough people in every clique to not get beat up, but not really belong in any clique. I was luckily the smart guy but not the smartest so I wasn't the nerdiest of the bunch. I knew to lay low enough to avoid that. Whew.

On House: Thirteen (Olivia Wilde) has still yet to prove to House that she has the smarts to stay in the game, which Wilson points out, and House really wonders if she keeps the beautiful women around because he's like THAT guy. All guys really.

House: "I can't believe I'm that guy."
Dr. Wilson: "Every guy is that that guy."
House: "I'm not every guy."
Dr. Wilson: "What is this, semantics here? All guys are that guy."
House: "I'm not all guys!"

Michael Michelle is a clear and automatic disappointment but House actually feels a conscience and withholds firing her since she left her life behind at the CIA to join House's team.

House: "She had good ideas at Langley."
Dr. Wilson: "All your ideas."
House: "She was able to identify that they were good ideas."
Dr. Wilson: "Stab in the dark here. Is she pretty?"

Meanwhile, a man with a large face deformity stumps the group as a documentary crew follows the team. It's nice when House diverts from its procedural but with the new ducklings, the documentary angle was unnecessary and distracting (and reminder of the annoying first episode of Season 4 Entourage). It allowed the crew to extract an accidental love confession out of Cameron but that was kinda lame. Anyways, you knew Thirteen was going to come up with the solution to justify House keeping her around because, well, Olivia Wilde is hot. I actually get that and totally dig her and since we know she and Kal Penn are the most famous/hottest of the bunch, they're totally going to be picked.

On Gossip Girl: Ugh, I hate Vanessa. I understand there needs to be an Anna Stern/Amanda Woodward interloper to Dan and Serena's Seth Cohen/Billy Campbell and Summer/Allison hookup but Vanessa annoys the heck out of me.

Yeah, I feel the same way too Serena. Just bitch slap the woman. I won't hate you for it.

Meanwhile, Grant Show/Jake Hanson/Ryan Atwood Nate is totally being pimped out by his mom to marry Blair even though they just broke up, but Nate reconsiders while Blair, desperately trying to forget her night with Chuck and trying to win Nate back on her 17th birthday (SHE'S ONLY SEVENTEEN ON THE SHOW???) nicely manipulates him into begging her back.

That is, when Michael Mancini Chuck isn't totally crawling all over her with his slimy hands and realising that he's actually aching for Blair. Ewwww. This could be tasty. Chuck becomes THAT GUY that ends up falling in love, despite his best to stay the cad he so wants to remain.

Dan and Jenny's mom shows up and she's not as famous as I would have thought they would have cast. Instead, Mrs. Humphrey's, who could have been Dan and Serena's older sister just as Rufus could have been their older brother, is still getting the cold shoulder from Rufus since she cheated on him.

On Beauty and the Geek: The Beauties need to pick up nasty bugs (insects I mean) while the Geeks learn the art of making a cocktail (kinda like Tom Cruise but much less gay) and seriously, Joshua was hysterical. Oh poor Josh, trying to flip the open-topped cream carafe. Then again, Dave flung cranberry juice all over himself. Nicole just kept swinging her arm like she was using a lasso (with a brilliant interpretation by Sam, who while the biggest narcissist in the world, is pretty damn funny). Meanwhile, Will, still at war with partner Jen, was probably going to knock someone out with a bottle or two after being confident with the task and overdoing the attempted tricks.

In the end, Sam won the bug contest and Dave won the bar tricks, leaving Will and Jen against Joshua and Shay, and it couldn't have been Shay who would bring a tear to my eye as she outlined the changes within her because of Josh and the geeks, which means of course, they would end up losing the elimination round and be forced to leave. Nooooo. Another team I liked gone. Again.

On The Big Bang Theory: Raj's parents try to set him up with a possible wife, but instead, Sheldon and Lalita make more of a connection than Raj does. But the most poignant line comes from Wolowitz: "Is it just me, or does webchatting with your clothes on seem a little pointless?" So true so true... hahaha

And finally, I caught up on Heroes...

Seriously, between falling half asleep during some episodes or losing attention while my mind wandered elsewhere (what should I eat for dinner? do I really want to date someone that actually likes torture porn? I think it's time to book another haircut. should I go swimming today or do more weights? what's the meaning of life?) I finally got to the big Adam Monroe reveal and was like. Huh?

Wait, who is good? Who is evil? The Haitian was helping Peter? Who is chasing who anymore? What's with Nikki/Jessica? Why is she even still on the series anymore? Yes, I know I defended her character last year but I was wrong. People make mistakes. Now rub her out.

Meanwhile, Matt Parkman's story has gotten BORING (or actually, shall I say, always was BORING) and I don't care about that little girl anymore (if I really ever did). Has Suresh ever really done ANYTHING on this show other than providing another token non-Caucasian cast member onto the series? Hiro finally meets his love, no, not the girl, I mean being brought back to the present with Ando (who looks like he could use some sleep and less of the partying now that he's made it in Hollywood). Claire is kissy kissy with freak cute boy but they haven't really progressed much with it since the first episode of this season. About the only funny thing that happened was when he freaked after seeing HRG in Claire's house.

Peter and Irish girl keep jumping around the world, being naked and all (about the only thing I ended up concentrating on), while Kristen Bell's Elle proves that Veronica Mars Season 4 really should have happened.

There are the wonder twins............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

And didn't they use the 4 months ago device last year already? Didn't that just prove the whole previous 7 episodes were almost kinda useless? Or at least, needlessly confusing?

Anyways, David Anders rocks the role of Adam (even though I'm truly confused about who/what/why he is) and Kristen Bell because she's just awesome no matter what, and I do like the black girl that can copy anything she sees. But they've split the old Heroes up too much and into tedious storylines. I find it like tedious homework now to watch, and if I didn't have this blog, I'd probably have dropped it by now. Is this some kinda sign about this blog?

Beauty and the Geek - Too Beautiful To Be A Geek

Ack... the best madeover geeks are dropping like flies. Not that I don't adore Muppet Joshua or Dave isn't strangely endearing but let's face it. Some of the makeovers from the week before were better than others.

2 weeks ago, the teams had to work together to create a superhero, and never have I laughed so much watching the geeks geek out at the excitement of making the beauties into superhereos with full out costume. Yes, spandex and all. Jennifer has boobs that hypnotize. Sam is just super. I think we just found the episode that tops the makeover episode.

Last week was a recap episode, so this week, the remaining teams are off to Mexico, where the beauties run around trying to figure out puzzles while the geeks must learn to dance. John (above left) does a pretty good job but Dave (above right) rips his shirt open and Joshua is just funny as always, shaking his groove thing.

Sadly, Sam won both the last challenge and this week's challenge. Since it was a team effort creating superheroes, only Sam and Nicole were winners and they chose Jesse and Erin to go head to head with John and Natalie, with Jesse and Erin eliminated. With John and Natalie still seen as the biggest threat, this week's winners Sam and Nicole and dancing winner Dave and partner Jasmine must choose which 2 of the remaining 3 teams will stay in the competition, with no quiz to save oneself. And out goes John and Natalie over still-bickering Jennifer and Will.

Dangit. Even Will was angry over the choice.
