Heart Attack - Bones & House

Bones - The Pain in the Heart - Ep. 315 - Season Finale
House - Wilson's Heart - Ep. 416 - Season Finale

Okay, I know in this day and age when being in the title credits doesn't mean your character becomes immune anymore from anything, especially after shows like Lost or 24, but I really didn't expect House and Bones to actually end off the way they did.

Seriously, WHAT? I had watched House first, where they continued from last week's bus accident where House had his own brain threatening injury while he tried to determine the other nameless unidentified victim in the bus who happened to be Amber, and I loved that the House had to endanger his own life to help save Amber. I'll keep the rest of the spoilers after the jump below.

I thought House had saved the day again when Amber woke up after the surgery so it threw me off when she still said she was dying (because of some pills she took that her body wasn’t able to filter out). And then Wilson cries and cuddles with Amber. And then she dies. WHAT?

I don’t know why but I actually didn’t expect that. I thought they would finally have saved her. Maybe cause I’ve forgotten that they killed babies before back in the first season, but I got used to them saving the day of late. Having the other ducklings be semi-forced to mourn her death was a nice touch.

Meanwhile, I’m still not sure it was the smartest move for the Bones writing crew to throw suspect on the Bones crew as everyone from Camille, to Sweets to Hodgins becomes a suspect as part of the Gorgamon killings, so it was a little unrattling when Zach becomes the suspect and is in fact, found guilty. It’s a shocking twist that sort of shatters the great illusions of the terrific chemistry the squints had for 3 seasons, but I felt the episode had little payoff after the big twist. I loved it and loathed it.

After all that, and essentially tarnishing Zach’s character forever, the capture of the Gorgamon man-eating killer was a bit fast, furious and unfulfilling.

Still, for the disappointing climax and denouement, the rest of the episode was terrific, showing the great chemistry within the cast and the hilarious lines thrown off between the grisly subject matter they had in between. Plus John Francis Daly’s addition as Sweets is so good that I forgot he was a only recent addition when that fact caused for suspicion so I had hoped he wasn’t the actual killer.

Loved that Booth had to fact his own death after last week’s shooting, loved that no one was told (due to Sweets) and that Bones was angry at Booth for not telling her, despite national security. Loved that Bones walked in on Booth in the tub. LOVED that. They need to show that more often…

Anyways, at least Hodgins isn’t the creepy killer and his romance with Angela can continue. I’m still sad that Zach was the killer in the end, which explains why people questioned if Eric Milligan would be back next season or not.

I guess it’s still open to a return, since he’s not dead, just in psychiatric care, but I guess Amber is gone, at least in real life, and can only return to House’s head.

Wilson really can’t have anything good happen to him can he?

The Peanut Reaction - Ep. 116
How I Met Your Mother -
Everything Must Go - Ep. 319

Gossip Girl -
Woman on the Verge - Ep. 117
Survivor: Micronesia - Fan vs. Favorites -
Stir the Pot! and Reunion - Ep. 1714 & 1715 - Season Finale

Life's been still busy this week (especially at work as everything is actually being rushed to be done before our Canadian long weekend this weekend) so I'm falling behind on the blogging, and CBS pre-empting their Monday night comedies to follow the live breaking news of a man wielding a gun on the Interstate in a stalled car for a FULL HOUR (if not more) didn't help my week, so I only finally got to watch How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory when they finally aired it on Wednesday morning at 2am. Yes. 2 am. And you wonder why HIMYM gets bad ratings.

I also haven't caught up with House due to time, and Gossip Girl due to the fact that we don't get The CW in Toronto (without antenna) and CTV is being a douche by holding it back until Friday May 30th (and restarting on FRIDAYS at 9pm during the SUMMER, what ARE they thinking?), but I ended up watching this weeks episodes at my friends house and will play catch up hopefully soon.

I also didn't have time to watch the Thursday night lineup yet but will get to that hopefully soon.

Anyways, here are some REALLY quick thoughts and opinions.

Desperate Housewives:

Edie blackmails Bree, then the girls turn on Edie so she moves away? That's quite brilliant. Especially if next season really will be the 5 year jump ahead in time, which would bring a returning Edie back after that time with some vengeance in her!

As for demonic daughter, does ANYTHING good ever happen to Lynette? Geez, give the housewife a break.

Love that Gaby found the cocaine ("I was a model in the 90's, I know what cocaine looks like") and they finally decide to turn her in, only to find themselves with a undercover cop wanting to use them to continue their big sting operation.

Aliens in America:

Maybe my high school was lame, but where do they come up with these ideas? "Killing" a student every year to showcase the effects of drunk driving? Brilliant. Justin being chosen over the popular kids by the in-charge Raja? Even more brilliant. Yet again, this show skews high school culture, drunk driving, the campaigns against drunk driving (or anything really), and melts away at our hearts at the end when Justin gets thanked by a victim's mother.

Meanwhile, love that Franny didn't back down and admit anything when Claire discovered her "potato masher" that just happened to be in the shape of a male body part.

The Big Bang Theory:

Penny! We missed you! Since you were barely in any of the recent episodes!

Penny tries to throw Leonard a surprise party but the other nerds are not the best party planners. Sheldon goes to a Best Buy type of store and ends up helping all the customers with his expertise. It's great that they can totally milk whole hilarious scenes out of that. Having a character in Best Buy!

How I Met Your Mother:

You know, when this show is brilliant, it's quite brilliant. This was not one of those episodes. When this show isn't "on", it can be quite uneven. It wasn't the worst episode, but bringing back Britney Spears was more of a distraction this time than anything helpful.

Still, Neil Patrick Harris as a nerded up "couple" Barney is kinda hot. Britney wasn't terrible, but next to NPH, her comedic flow just isn't there. Plus, her weird hair extensions or whatever it is was distracting.

And I'm not sure I liked the stereotypical gay couple that buys Lily's painting. That whole segment was almost a bit off putting. Though the dogs starring at Lily's painting was funny somehow.

Bones:

WHAT? WHO GOT SHOT? I mean, we knew something was coming because we knew the weird larger chick that was going to go psycho, but for some reason I thought it was going to be Zach the whole time. Or Bones, but not Booth. On the minus side, we know he can't actually die because he's one of the two leads (and this isn't Lost) but it was still a nice shocking ending.

House:

I read somewhere that House had jumped the shark this week with an episode that had to diagnose what was wrong with House himself. It was one of those episodes that deviate from the formula, but I always think those ones are the best. While the final twist on who House had to save was pounded a bit over the head with the Amber necklace that triggered some memory for House, it was still a nice twist.

Gossip Girl:

I haven't seen any of the new episodes post-strike yet but I knew Michelle Trachtenburg was going to be it, but I didn't realise she was going to be that big of a biatch? All I could keep thinking was, but she's the KEY!?!?!!!

And how stupid is Dan for falling into her trap?

Alas, the true tale to Serena's murder of course was not exactly "murder", and in fact made her come off even nicer than before. While Georgina had tried to set Serena up with someone in bed, that guy overdoses when Serena stops the playing.

Lame yet kinda clever all at the same time. I liked how it forced all the mains to interact again, despite all the gossip and news that has been going on lately.

Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites:

Seriously? of the four girls left, Parvati won? Not Cirie? Not Amanda? Parvati? That totally sucks for Amanda.

Especially coming from such a great season where so many people got backstabbed.

I guess Parvatti deserved to win.

Fashionably Late - Project Runway, House and Everything Else I Haven't Talked About In A While

Project Runway - Eye Candy - Ep. 406, What a Girl Wants - Ep. 407, On Garde! - Ep. 408, Even Designers Get the Blues - Ep. 409, Raw Talent - Ep. 410
House - It's a Wonderful Lie, Ep. 410, Frozen - Ep. 411, Don't Ever Change - Ep. 412
Boston Legal - Season 4
Private Practice - Season 1
Dirty Sexy Money - Season 1

Well, at least the writer's strike let me catch up with the stuff I taped.

I've actually been watching Project Runway and House mostly on time but since PR is delayed here in Canada, I'm always playing slight catch up and never in time to talk about in a timely way. But I wanted to use my above title at some point to seem clever. So here's my fashionably late post about Project Runway. Get it? How clever of me (look, I'm jetlagged. Give me a cheap freebie okay?)

Also fashionably late? Ricky's inevitable Auf'd that everyone has been waiting for. Finally. And yet, just as the crying self-esteem self chatter was getting on my nerves, he actually pulls a win in the Jeans episode, and I actually didn't totally hate his orange bathing suit/wrestling outfit but I did agree, it still made the scary female wrestler look a bit fat and it wasn't an original look.

Still, the fact that Ricky outlasted Kevin (who was so wronged that week he got Auf'd), Victorya (who, as annoyingly passive aggressive as she was and while she wasn't amazing, was still better than Kevin), Kit (who was TOTALLY wronged that week when she worked with Ricky and got Auf'd because she actually had some gumption of design control), and even ELISA (who as crazy as she may have been, had at least more interesting designs than Ricky) shows why the producers still hasn't fixed the crack in their system (Vincent anyone?). Ricky wasn't even that cameraworthy. He was kinda boring. Yes he played on the poor Latino boy doing good but I wish he had the designs to back him up. THEN it would have been a good story.

Anyways, Christian is a total twat but the fierce little bitch is still quite entertaining, if only for his youthful arrogance. I'd be more annoyed but I'm still mesmerized that he could sport that side-mullet (haha... god, Liz, that WAS brilliant) with a straight face (no gay pun intended).

So, while I've kinda avoided the spoilers (since the final Bryant Park Fashion show happened and you can just google it to see the pics but I'll avoid posting them here so that I can avoid looking at them)...

Of the remaining contestants, Chris, Christian and Jillian are probably my faves. I love Rami still but the dude's got some air of attitude when things don't go his way and when he can't drape fabric in his designs. Sweet P is probably my favorite person (though Chris is close in the running) but her designs are hit and miss. Jillian seems the most middle of the road successful, too bad she's kinda boring. Christian is great when he pulls out all the stops, but I'm glad he got bitch slapped by the school girl when he had to make that outfit for the opinionated tween. Karmic payback can be fierce.

In another fashion moment, the McGill sweatshirt makes a comeback on House! Yes, little things are enough to excite us Canadians! (Well, okay, fine, just me) Especially to see the return of my alma mater's sweatshirt on Cutthroat Bitch Amber after we discover she's dating Wilson. Even better? When House realizes Wilson is dating a female version of House!

The whole thing was hilarious and I'm really growing to love Anne Dudek between being Cutthroat Bitch and decking out in 60's housewife's garb on Mad Men. It also got to showcase Robert Sean Leonard (as Wilson) some more, which is always a good thing.

I'm still wondering why Fox was fashionably late (you know I'm going to work that phrase in this post as much as possible now) in showing House's Christmas episode at the end of January but considering NBC shows the 2 remaining episodes of Chuck on one night, Fox is holding back Bones until April, and ABC is holding back Men In Trees even though it has the most episodes left to show, I'm just assuming the programming execs are just complete morons at this point.

As for Mira Sorvino's appearance, all I could think about was, who is that guy she's trapped in the arctic for? He's kinda hot but where is he from? (I finally figured out that he was that guy trying to work into the Newport Group on The OC, Jeff Hephner). Nevermind that we had an Oscar winner on the post-Super Bowl episode (who I actually did think deserved her win for Mighty Aphrodite but then again, I was also happy for Marisa Tomei's win so I seem to champion the underdogs here).

Anyways, I've also been catching up with the 3 star ABC shows, Boston Legal, Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money.

I still enjoy Boston Legal, even though they got rid of my favorites Julie Bowen and wet dream Mark Valley and I think they've taken Christian Clemenson's asperger striken Jerry too far but I love the addition of Taraji P. Henson who brings her trademark sass to Whitney Rome. Plus it's nice seeing her not play a stripper, hooker or whore for once (though she does it so excellently in Talk to Me, Hustle and Flow, Four Brothers).

It's funny that they have sort of acknowledged that they don't know what to do with John Larroquette in their usual meta sort of way, but the coup casting hasn't laid on the sidelines as they continue to fit the script pages so that James Spader and William Shatner fill the screen (no pun intended, well, not really). I love when they throw Candice Bergen in the mix as the heavyweights (again, no real pun intended) but the show never seems to know how to mix the Shat and Spader in with the others, particularly the other headliners which always leaves the show a little disjointed.

I do love the guest casting though, particularly Scott Bakula! Quantum Leaping lizards!

Still, as crazy as it all is, I find myself not missing the show when I'm not watching it but totally loving it when I do.

Meanwhile, I'm totally not missing newcomers Private Practice or Dirty Sexy Money either and not loving them when I do watch, though DSM is growing on me. I'm really only sticking with PP at this point because I was waiting for Christopher David Sutcliffe to show up and what happens when I do? I accidentally erase those episodes. Oh well. There are TV favorites guest starring on the show galore (from Keiko Agena also from Gilmore Girls to Christopher Wiehl from Love Monkey) but I have more fun recognizing people than I do the actual show.

I still love Paul Adelstein and wonder if his Gilmore Girl starring wife may pop up one day (he's married in real life to Liza Weil, Paris Geller) to add to all the guest stars from that show. I still think the women need to grow spines, and they need to expand Chris Lowell's Dell further into the mix, but it's coming back for another season so let's hope they fix things for the fall.

Meanwhile, I watch Dirty Sexy Money, I enjoy, then I totally forget what happens by the time I watch the next episode (and considering I'm watching it taped, that doesn't mean a week, sometimes it just means hours in between). It's fun, it's frothy, it's getting soapier but I just don't care about most of the characters still, and the best one, Samaire Armstrong's Juliet, is off in rehab in real life so who knows what might happen to her.

I still love the whole Carmelita (Candis Cayne) and Patrick Darling (William Baldwin) relationship but I'm already lost on Lisa and Peter and Karen and whatever that triangle they seemed to want going, and as funny as the bastard son storyline for Rev. Patrick Darling may be, along with being the secret brother of Peter, I still hate the Brian character, which is played annoyingly by Glenn Fitzgerald in an annoying way and not an annoying but still lovable way that TV requires.

As for Blair Underwood, I prefer him on The New Adventures of Old Christine. He probably does less there but is still more compelling.

I still have hope for DSM and it is also back in the fall for another season, but let's hope Greg Berlanti shapes the show a bit more before spreading himself too thin everywhere on ABC.

What's Left On TV?

It's Chuck Versus Ugly Betty. Honestly, I would put my money on Betty if they had to actually brawl. I would actually kill to see Betty meet up with Casey and give him the full brunt of Betty's enthusiasm. I bet you he never got special training ops on dealing with that!

There's the last new Ugly Betty episode tonight (8pm on ABC/CITY) and it's up against the last 2 episodes of Chuck in the States (8pm and then 10pm on NBC)(luckily in Canada, the same network carries both shows and already aired Chuck on its regular Monday date, but I'll have the recap up later today but let's just say it was totally great and made me miss it during the Christmas holidays and now will make me miss it during the WGA strike) so even though we've been in a TV drought, it's time to work those tape machines (whether it be tivo/pvr/dvr/vcr/recordable dvd's etc etc) again tonight!

Anyways, Ausiello updated the number of remaning episodes of our favorite shows which I've copied below.

House and Bones - Reindeer Games

Bones - The Santa in the Slush - Ep. 310
House - Games - Ep. 409

Bones killed Santa (the show, not the character). And again, somehow it's the one of the most sentimental shows (without being shlocky) around. Explain that?

A dead Santa is found in an alley and his name is Kris Kringle. For real. Apparently. He was killed by a reindeer, he claims to have come from the North Pole, and he lives above a toy store (with a big secret wad of cash). But the most shocking part is, Bones believes it could be true while it's Booth who seems skeptical this time.

But let's talk about the REAL story. Max wants a REAL Christmas while he's in jail, but to do that, Bones needs a favour from AUSA Caroline Julian (an always amusingly unamused Patricia Belcher). In turn, Caroline blackmails Bones... to kiss Booth underneath a mistletoe for a good 5 seconds. On the lips.

The kiss? Was hysterical. Booth and Bones described it like kissing your brother or sister. Caroline seemed half bemused and half grossed out and half hot and bothered (yes, I know that makes 3 halves) and I thought it looked like they were kissing their workmate/co-producer but the look AFTER the kiss sold me on the potential chemistry. Now those two just need to practice their kissing a bit more.

Anyways, Max, Russ and the kids want a tree but that's a no-no in the conjugal trailer but Booth comes through in the end to help out Bones in a nice sweet Christmacy moment.

Meanwhile the killer was another DeLuise. Isn't it always a DeLuise? (How many of them ARE there anyways? Where they keep all appearing from?)

Plus, John Francis Daley is in the opening credits as a main cast! Freaking Geeky Do! (Wait, was he in last week? I only noticed this week).

On House: 4 new ducklings. 2 spots. House wants all 4. Cuddy says he can have 2. Let the games begin!

New case. Diagnose it correctly, become the winner! Winner gets a job! And through various misdiagnoses, everyone gets fired at some point. Evil Bitch works too hard. 13 actually cares. Points are lost, points are gained. Foreman is appalled that helping a patient has become a game, but House insists the game works.

In the end, Kutner and Taub are hired leaving both girls out of a job, until Cuddy allows for 13, giving House the three new ducklings he always wanted. Cutthroat Bitch cries. Eh, oh well, she was entertaining during the competition but I'm not sure I could deal with a whole season of it. Though apparently she will be back.

So after 9 episodes, we finally have a new team, though I think the fun was in trying to find the new team. Let's hope House doesn't fall back into its old procedural ways.

House of Beauties and the Game of Survivor

House - You Don't Want to Know - Ep. 408
Beauty and the Geek - Whine and Dine - Ep. 411

Oh damn, I thought the Black Mormon/Father (What is he really at this point? I don't know what House is joking about anymore and what isn't) was going to prevail and join the team (and be a replacement Foreman). Was that too straight forward in colour casting?

Love that House gives immunity to whomever could get Cuddy's red panties AND they get to choose who is up for elimination. Evil Bitch and Plastic Surgeon dude conspire together but fail. Thirteen is too busy noticing the shakes in her hand and trying to hide it from House to play along.

Meanwhile, a magician is mystifying House and company, something with bleeding but really, with his magic tricks. Watching House think he knows the tricks and yet is totally baffled was terrific. Guess the know it all didn't know it all.

Cole manages to snag Cuddy's panties (with a nice verification trick by House), and the game is on as everyone gives him reasons why they should stay on the House island. Love that Taub tries to buy him off, while Kutner simply tells him he's not really competition playing the Richard Hatch trick.

In the end, Thirteen had been drinking caffeinated coffee that House switched underneath her nose, giving her the shakes and not from a possible hereditary disease her mom had, while Cole gets fired after Cole puts up Kutner and Taub for elimination and House sees that Cuddy and Cole had conspired together to get her choices through.

Wilson still needs more lines while Cameron and Chase must be trying to reconcile their real-life relationship problems.

On Beauty and the Geek, it's the final three and time for whining. Actually, wine. There's an obstacle course as the challenge, where teams must pick grapes, stomp them, and use the juices to fill 3 bottles to be carried over to the host (who I still don't know his name even though he's one of the most likable reality hosts this side of Phil Keoghan).

Anyways, as funny as Sam has become, Sam and Nicole always win so I didn't want them to win. And since Jen and Will still hate each other (but were easing up... a bit), by default, I wanted Dave and Jasmine to win, even though they had no physical abilities between the two of them... yet... THEY WON!!! WOOHOO!!!

This left the other two teams to fend for themselves in the elimination round, but not after some video reviews of the beauties and the geeks initial introductions. Loved that Will and Jen were really fighting right from the start and not some growing thing. Interesting to see the others realise that after watching the videos.

Anyways, alas, their bickering probably hindered them, or Sam is smarter than his model good looks would say, but Nicole and Sam prevailed again, eliminating Will and Jen. Some fake lovey dovey things were said, (actually, it was awkward but sweet) and off they go their separate ways. Love that Will and Jen were STILL insisting each were right in the case of the weight of fat and muscle.

Those "That Guy"s - Marshall, Booth, House, Chuck, Joshua, Sheldon and Peter

How I Met Your Mother - Spoiler Alert - Ep 308
Bones - Boy in the Time Capsule - Ep. 307
House - Ugly - Ep. 407
Gossip Girl - Seventeen Candles - Ep. 107
Beauty and the Geek - Raising the Bar - Ep. 410
The Big Bang Theory - The Grasshopper Experiment - Ep. 108
Heroes - The Kindness of Strangers, The Line, Out of Time, Four Months Ago - Ep. 204, 206-208, Ep. 205 Here

I don't have much time but while we still have TV to talk about, let's discuss:

How I Met Your Mother - YAY! Literally! Marshall passed the bar! "Lawsuit up!"!!! Lindsay Price (who DOES she know that she keeps getting her onto shows? Though she was funny here and actually the only good thing in Lipstick Jungle) is Ted's new girlfriend Cathy who the gang hates because of her incessant talking. (Robin: (on Cathy) "She's a keeper, just keep her somewhere else"). This starts a round where everyone points out everyone else's annoyances.

Best one, Marshall singing everything he does.

Or Lily's loud chewing/crunching. Marshall: (to Lily) "I love you, but when you eat it sounds like a garbage disposal full of drywall screws."

Or Robin always saying "literally". Barney: "Don't they teach you vocabulary in Canada?" Marshall: "They don't, Literally, they don't". (They really don't.)

Next week: Slapsgiving!!! The Countdown closes in!

On Bones: Booth is THAT guy. THAT guy in high school. We all knew that. The squints all knew that. Booth does not know that. Sweet wants Booth to reveal a revealing, embarrassing moment to Bones and he tries, but they always end up being stories of someone else being embarrassed. Meanwhile, a High School Time Capsule is opened and a body is discovered within the nasty liquids and mementos of the 80's (floppy discs! A-tracks! Boom boxes!). Ew. Patrick Fabian/Prof. Landry is back (yet again, who does HE know for popping up on every show?) so automatically I assume he's the killer, but alas, he's not. In fact, he was clueless to the fact that his wife had an affair and that his son is really the son of the murdered computer geek. This brings back all the high school roles into the lab, with Bones leading as Brainy Smurf while Booth is obviously THAT guy. Personally, I was the guy that knew enough people in every clique to not get beat up, but not really belong in any clique. I was luckily the smart guy but not the smartest so I wasn't the nerdiest of the bunch. I knew to lay low enough to avoid that. Whew.

On House: Thirteen (Olivia Wilde) has still yet to prove to House that she has the smarts to stay in the game, which Wilson points out, and House really wonders if she keeps the beautiful women around because he's like THAT guy. All guys really.

House: "I can't believe I'm that guy."
Dr. Wilson: "Every guy is that that guy."
House: "I'm not every guy."
Dr. Wilson: "What is this, semantics here? All guys are that guy."
House: "I'm not all guys!"

Michael Michelle is a clear and automatic disappointment but House actually feels a conscience and withholds firing her since she left her life behind at the CIA to join House's team.

House: "She had good ideas at Langley."
Dr. Wilson: "All your ideas."
House: "She was able to identify that they were good ideas."
Dr. Wilson: "Stab in the dark here. Is she pretty?"

Meanwhile, a man with a large face deformity stumps the group as a documentary crew follows the team. It's nice when House diverts from its procedural but with the new ducklings, the documentary angle was unnecessary and distracting (and reminder of the annoying first episode of Season 4 Entourage). It allowed the crew to extract an accidental love confession out of Cameron but that was kinda lame. Anyways, you knew Thirteen was going to come up with the solution to justify House keeping her around because, well, Olivia Wilde is hot. I actually get that and totally dig her and since we know she and Kal Penn are the most famous/hottest of the bunch, they're totally going to be picked.

On Gossip Girl: Ugh, I hate Vanessa. I understand there needs to be an Anna Stern/Amanda Woodward interloper to Dan and Serena's Seth Cohen/Billy Campbell and Summer/Allison hookup but Vanessa annoys the heck out of me.

Yeah, I feel the same way too Serena. Just bitch slap the woman. I won't hate you for it.

Meanwhile, Grant Show/Jake Hanson/Ryan Atwood Nate is totally being pimped out by his mom to marry Blair even though they just broke up, but Nate reconsiders while Blair, desperately trying to forget her night with Chuck and trying to win Nate back on her 17th birthday (SHE'S ONLY SEVENTEEN ON THE SHOW???) nicely manipulates him into begging her back.

That is, when Michael Mancini Chuck isn't totally crawling all over her with his slimy hands and realising that he's actually aching for Blair. Ewwww. This could be tasty. Chuck becomes THAT GUY that ends up falling in love, despite his best to stay the cad he so wants to remain.

Dan and Jenny's mom shows up and she's not as famous as I would have thought they would have cast. Instead, Mrs. Humphrey's, who could have been Dan and Serena's older sister just as Rufus could have been their older brother, is still getting the cold shoulder from Rufus since she cheated on him.

On Beauty and the Geek: The Beauties need to pick up nasty bugs (insects I mean) while the Geeks learn the art of making a cocktail (kinda like Tom Cruise but much less gay) and seriously, Joshua was hysterical. Oh poor Josh, trying to flip the open-topped cream carafe. Then again, Dave flung cranberry juice all over himself. Nicole just kept swinging her arm like she was using a lasso (with a brilliant interpretation by Sam, who while the biggest narcissist in the world, is pretty damn funny). Meanwhile, Will, still at war with partner Jen, was probably going to knock someone out with a bottle or two after being confident with the task and overdoing the attempted tricks.

In the end, Sam won the bug contest and Dave won the bar tricks, leaving Will and Jen against Joshua and Shay, and it couldn't have been Shay who would bring a tear to my eye as she outlined the changes within her because of Josh and the geeks, which means of course, they would end up losing the elimination round and be forced to leave. Nooooo. Another team I liked gone. Again.

On The Big Bang Theory: Raj's parents try to set him up with a possible wife, but instead, Sheldon and Lalita make more of a connection than Raj does. But the most poignant line comes from Wolowitz: "Is it just me, or does webchatting with your clothes on seem a little pointless?" So true so true... hahaha

And finally, I caught up on Heroes...

[crickets]

Seriously, between falling half asleep during some episodes or losing attention while my mind wandered elsewhere (what should I eat for dinner? do I really want to date someone that actually likes torture porn? I think it's time to book another haircut. should I go swimming today or do more weights? what's the meaning of life?) I finally got to the big Adam Monroe reveal and was like. Huh?

Wait, who is good? Who is evil? The Haitian was helping Peter? Who is chasing who anymore? What's with Nikki/Jessica? Why is she even still on the series anymore? Yes, I know I defended her character last year but I was wrong. People make mistakes. Now rub her out.

Meanwhile, Matt Parkman's story has gotten BORING (or actually, shall I say, always was BORING) and I don't care about that little girl anymore (if I really ever did). Has Suresh ever really done ANYTHING on this show other than providing another token non-Caucasian cast member onto the series? Hiro finally meets his love, no, not the girl, I mean being brought back to the present with Ando (who looks like he could use some sleep and less of the partying now that he's made it in Hollywood). Claire is kissy kissy with freak cute boy but they haven't really progressed much with it since the first episode of this season. About the only funny thing that happened was when he freaked after seeing HRG in Claire's house.

Peter and Irish girl keep jumping around the world, being naked and all (about the only thing I ended up concentrating on), while Kristen Bell's Elle proves that Veronica Mars Season 4 really should have happened.

There are the wonder twins............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

And didn't they use the 4 months ago device last year already? Didn't that just prove the whole previous 7 episodes were almost kinda useless? Or at least, needlessly confusing?

Anyways, David Anders rocks the role of Adam (even though I'm truly confused about who/what/why he is) and Kristen Bell because she's just awesome no matter what, and I do like the black girl that can copy anything she sees. But they've split the old Heroes up too much and into tedious storylines. I find it like tedious homework now to watch, and if I didn't have this blog, I'd probably have dropped it by now. Is this some kinda sign about this blog?

Funny Fox? And It's Not Cancelled Yet?

House - Whatever It Takes - Ep. 406
Bones - Intern in the Incinerator - Ep. 406

How funny were House and Bones last night? (That sounds like some secret Ivy League society... and on Fox... I see a conspiracy here somewhere. Plus, the shows have been funnier than ever. And it hasn't been cancelled yet? On Fox? Notorious great comedy killer? Don't betray me now! Not again!). Both shows put a slight twist on things last night, when House gets poached by the CIA to solve a case, and Booth goes on a fake date with Cam in order to appease her father, meanwhile, an intern in the facility is found dead in an incinerator. Ew.

There's a case of a drag racer who collapses in front of Biff (Tom Wilson, always Biff in my books) and House and the new ducklings are on the case. At least until House gets taken away to the CIA to help out on a case with Michael Michelle. A man who basically looks really gross with things on his face and looking gaunt (think a heroin addict attacked by mosquitoes) is mystifying the CIA. But really, all that medical stuff is irrelevant.

The show really is great when we have Cuddy trying to chase down House, and not believing Wilson when he reveals that House is at the CIA. Who would? Cuddy punishes Wilson for what she perceives as covering for House and lying about his whereabouts.

Dr. Wilson: Why are you punishing me worse then him?
Dr. Cuddy: Because House never learns. You might.

I love Cuddy. Love Wilson!

Love that House programmed Amber's phone number as "Conniving Bitch" (Wait. Did I get the correct adjective?). Either way. There's a battle of sorts when Foreman takes over with everyone running to Cameron trying to figure out what kinda boss Eric is. Mistakes are made, this disease, no that. Same as every week but again, having all the new ducklings fighting each other is still pretty entertaining.

Over on Bones, an intern is found dead which affect Angela. Sam Jones III (Smallville) is a rival intern Tyler Neville and since he's kind of known, my household kept thinking he's the killer. Why else would he be on the show? Xander Berkeley (24) is a creepy Dr. Harlan Bancroft who is too obvious to be a killer but have threatens Angela that she would have been next, if he was the killer.

Everyone thinks the case has to do with the Gorgonzola/Gorgamon(?) case as things from the vault are suspected as the murder weapon.

In the end, it was accidental though a whole fraud scheme is discovered in the process but really, let's talk about Booth. How hot/funny was he reacting to Cam's sister planting a kiss on him? Then when they started fighting about it? Then blaming Booth for the whole thing? Classic.

Or when Zach points out to a distressed Angela, distressed for a suspect cheating on his wife, that Angela is in fact a married woman cheating on her husband with Hodgins. Hodgins gives him a nice smacking. Poor Zach!

Finally, Booth and Bones continue their flirtatious dance over some wine after the case is solved.

Brennan: I'm offended, because...because I...
Booth: Because you were betrayed by one of your own.
Brennan: Yes. Are you going to betray me?
Booth: No.

Enuf said!

Halloween's Leftover Bones and Haunted House

Bones - Mummy in the Maze - Ep. 305
House - Mirror, Mirror - Ep. 405

SO last night I went out to eat ribs, and then came home to watch Bones. On Halloween. It wasn't planned that way.

For the Americans out there: How did you love Pushing Daisies? (And yes, I used the word Love cause there really are no other options).

So between life, work, work, life, weddings (attending), life, work, and more work, I'm (GASP) falling behind on my TV. The Big Bang Theory, last weeks House, Private Practice, almost all of Boston Legal, 2 weeks of Heroes, Everybody Hates Chris, (um, and Carpoolers... I know. Shameful), this weeks Samantha Who?, a few weeks worth of Journeyman are all still waiting at home to be caught up on (and I've just given up on Big Shots and Bionic Woman completely now). At least Gossip Girl wasn't on this week and Beauty and the Geek was a recap episode. Whew. And maybe it's good that Pushing Daisies is not on next week since I'll be out everynight.

Yet Bones is becoming one of those shows I feel compelled to watch right away. I've always contended it was a good show but I never felt like I had to be caught up weekly with it, usually watching them in mini-marathons every month or so, but this year, between the continuing flirtatious denial between Bones and Booth, Angela's searching for her mysterious ex-husband so that she could marry Hodgins, and the return of Zach, plus a few good guest/re-occurring guest spots (YAY! John Francis Daley (Freaks and Geeks) is apparently joining as a regular cast member as Dr. Sweet! SWEET!) I'm totally loving Bones.

This week on Bones, a mummified dead body is found in a Halloween maze and as things unravel (ahem), 1 more mummy is found in a haunted house, and another girl has just gone missing, all pointing to some creepy dude, Ryder Strong (Boy Meets World and I'll never let him forget it).

Angela and Hodgins hire a PI Amber (Azura Skye, as flighty as ever, here used to ingenious effect as a detailed oriented PI who really gets into her work) to search for Angela's ex. She finds him, and finds out he's still in love with her, and refusing the divorce papers.

Plus, it's also the Halloween party thrown to suck out the money from the big money in Washington so everyone is required to dress up. Poor Zach is the back half of a cow and Booth becomes one of the squints (and both looking adorable as ever). The always lovely Angela looks fabulous as Cher, and Bones is Wonder Woman and verbally battles over the more powerful superhero with Catwoman Camille.

Brennan: Is that your costume?
Cam: Ah, yah!
Brennan: It's sexually alluring.
Cam: Thank you. I'm Catwoman. (Brennan looks at her questioningly) A superhero. One of the most powerful female superhero figures.
Brennan: (laughs) I don't think so.
Cam: Are you kidding, Catwoman?
Brennan: Can you fly?
Cam: I have nine lives.
Brennan: Super strength, super speed, force people to tell the truth?
Cam: I think I'm pretty fast.
Brennan: Pretty fast is not super speed.

Over on House:

The remaining ducklings (they are STILL in the interview process? I thought this would be over by now. Not that I'm complaining. I still like this change up even though we sort of know what the outcome will be since we know which actors are joining the main cast (the most famous of the bunch basically))

Frank Whaley (whatever happened to him? He seemed so promising after holding his own against then-still-hot-Kevin Spacey in Swimming with Sharks)is the patient-of-the-week with symptoms where he seems to mimic everything around him. The race is on to solve the case as Chase sets up bets against the next fired duckling.

Foreman, House and Cuddy seem to be in a locked battle over Foreman's fate with Cameron calling out Foreman for secretly enjoying House's abuse, and thus, staying put.

I'm a little confused since I still haven't seen last weeks episode (and I hadn't planned on watching this weeks first but just happened that way) but I have to admit, I'm loving House again after getting seriously bored last year with the proceduralness of it all. It still is, only with more ducklings now, but just having Kal Penn and Olivia Wilde there seems to have revitalised the show a LOT. Plus letting Cameron and Chase high up on their horse, looking down at all the poor new ducklings have made them fun again!
