Top 8 Group Dance (with Ade Obayomi)

Song: "When We Dance" - Sting
Grade: B

Not Mia's best work, but when the moments worked, they were quite magical. Though I partly blame the choice of song, which was kind of slow and boring. In theory, I love Sting, but I've find some of his stuff is just snooze inducing now.



The Predictions from the Top 8 Performances:
Bottom Three: Robert, Adéchiké and Alex is automatically in already.

Going Home Adéchiké

The actual results were:

Lauren is safe.
Billy is safe in the bottom 3. WUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT???
Kent is safe.
Jose is safe.
Robert IS SAFE. RECOGNIZE! Whew.
Ashley is in the bottom 3.
Which means Adéchiké is safe.

WTF? Ashley, the top girl, and Billy Bell, one of the best guys. Mia apologizes to Adéchiké for being too harsh the night before (which may have provoked his fans to dial like crazy to save him) but I get what she says, since she sees that he can do so well (especially from last week) and so it's frustrating when he disappoints.

The Filler:
The National Touring cast of In The Heights, starring Lin Manuel Miranda, performs "96000" (Choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler.

Natasha Bedingfield performs "Touch". With the All Stars. OH YAY! I can always deal with this new filler now that the All-Stars are involved. Filler should always be this amazing and full of the All-Stars.


Dance For Your Life:

Billy Bell
Song: "To Build A Home" - Cinematic Orchestra
Grade: A-

Not as unified a piece as previous week but seriously, Billy looks so friggin amazing in his solos.

Ashley Galvan
Style: Jazz
Song: "Lost (Acoustic)" - Anouk
Grade: B+

Was it more or did it seem like she was putting her efforts SO much that she lost a bit of balance there?

The Cut:

Sadly, the news about Alex Wong's injury is not good. He'll need a simple surgery and will be better but the timeline won't allow Alex to continue in the competition. Nigel said that he'll be invited back next season but alas, Alex, after making it 2 seasons ago, finally able to do the show this season, will not actually finish out his run here. So if he can return next season, that means he'll have been on 3 seasons.

OMG I think I'm going to cry now.
