Since ABC basically had the strongest lineup in 2007-2008, it will carry over the most shows thus leaving very few spots open. So there's really only 2 new shows (one drama, one reality game show) starting this fall (in addition to taking on Scrubs), and so far only one announced for midseason (a comedy) at this point (though apparently a few other pilots are still in development).
Life on Mars - Based on the excellent UK show, this new US version produced/not produced by David E. Kelley (is he on the project or not anymore?) is apparently having a LOT or problems and re-casting almost everyone, moving to New York for production and losing Kelley but the original trailer turned out better than I thought, though nothing like the originals' mood and subtlety but what can you expect from a US remake?
Here's the original Life on Mars trailer:
Opportunity Knocks - A new reality gameshow played on the front lawns of peoples homes. Is that J.D. Roth from DOUBLE DARE???
Here's the trailer:
Apparently at this point, it's still too early for midseason replacement The Goode Family because I cannot find a video clip for it anywhere.
I've sort of sat on this for a while and everybody's probably already seen it but I didn't really have time to post this properly before, but figure now that we are into summer re-runs, summer reality and I don't have as much to post about, it's time to start reeling out the previews for the Fall now that it's all getting closer.
So while I've already done Video Previews for CBS and FOX, I'll start to finish off the rest. Not that there's much since The CW really only has 2 new shows (I'm not counting reality show Stylista even though I have a clip below), ABC has only 2 new shows (The Goode Family and Life on Mars which is apparently being totally revamped anyways, and again, I'm not counting reality show Opprotunity Knocks)
Surviving the Filthy Rich UPDATE: Now renamed Privileged (what a dumb change) - Because RIna Mimoun is behind this show (she of the ever brilliant Everwood, Gilmore Girls and Pushing Daisies so there's hope yet. Plus it stars Joanna Garcia who I adored in Reba and Michael Cassidy who I just adore (from The OC). Plus the pilot was directed by someone who did 30 Rock. Interesting mix of people on THIS network especially. I just wish the 2 flithy rich girls (one played by the annoying Lucy Hale from Bionic Woman) and Joanna Garcia didn't all look so similar.:
Here's the trailer:
Here are 4 preview clips edited together:
90210 - It now stars Shenae Grimes (from Degrassi: TNG) so I'll have to check it out. I'm excited about Jessica Walter (Arrested Development) is in it but until then, I couldn't really care, but you know I'll end up watching anyways. I was never actually a huge fan of the original so I'm on a wait and see with this re-hash.
Here's the video preview:
Stylista - A new reality show where budding fashionistas get a chance to "work" for Anne Slowey of Elle Magazine. So The Devil Wears Prada: the reality show. The trailer makes me want to hurl like a model. And not to lose weight. Not JUST to lose weight. I'm sort of sick and tired of people being rewarded for being total power hungry bitches (Anne) or seeking to be power hungry bitches (the contestants).
Here's the trailer that will make you anorexic, so I guess it does do its job in promoting the modeling and fashion industry:
I love vacations and I'm enjoying my time here in Europe, visiting old friends and discovering some new places that I've never been (and some old ones that have a place in my heart, Amsterdam today (where all I kept thinking about was the song "Amsterdam" from the must-see musical Passing Strange), Brussels tomorrow (where I did a semester of university)) but is it bad that I'm craving TV and that I'm already planning out my return TV watching schedule of TV to catch up from what I missed (mainly, So You Think You Can Dance which Linz from Linz McC's Completely Pointless Blog has been awesomely covering for me!) when I return home later this week?
European TV just ain't cutting it, although I did watch a bit of that old movie The Faculty with super young Elijah Wood, Josh Hartnett, Clea Duvall, Shawn Hatosy (what happened to him?) and Usher but what REALLY made me laugh was seeing a skinnier Jon Stewart as some evil possessed teacher that gets his eyes stabbed. I'm guessing this was before The Daily Show. My other alternative was That's Amore, the apparently spin-off from A Shot At Love or whatever that Tila Tequilla show was. Shouldn't they be importing Friday Night Lights or Pushing Daisies or something?

Who is with me for the midnight showing at the Imax on November 21st?
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens on November 21st in the US and Canada.

Hmm, I just noticed ManuelB, /Film, USA Today posted all these too... guess I was late in on the game! (I got them from Comingsoon where Hi-Res versions are available).
It's me Linz again, coming to you while Vance is away. Don't worry, he'll be back soon. In the meantime, you are stuck with me for your SYTYDC fix (on this site anyway).
For starters, I am really missing Shane Sparks. His absence is getting more noticeable as the weeks go on (and we get more and more Cicely & Olisa).
Top 14 Group Performance - Choreographed by Tyce Diorio Song: "Money Money" - Cabaret
Here's the video clip:
While this routine was in the bawdy style of Cabaret, had some sassy costumes, and was somewhat enjoyable to watch, I found myself frustrated by the camera cuts and wondering who in the world is directing this show. I realize this is a live show, but whoever decides on the camera movements and cuts does NOT have any knowledge of dance or what would be required for the viewer to be able to see what is really going on. I noticed this last season and it is just getting worse. Argh!!
So my bottom three predictions were: Comfort & Thayne Kourtni & Matt Courtney & Gev
So the bottom 3 teams were: Kourtni & Matt Courtney & Gev Comfort & Thayne
The audience seems to be especially amped up tonight. Not sure what has taken place off camera, but it is fueling a lot of extra screaming by the audience. Even Cat seems to have upped her cheeky level.
In doing some of my really fancy online research, I have discovered that Thayne performed in High School Musical and HSM 2. Gev was in HSM 2, as well.
Now for our guest dancer, from the LA auditions, popper Robert Muraine. I really wish that he had not quit in Las Vegas, but I think he just knew he didn't have it in him to do other styles of dance. And clearly, it isn't a problem for him (or for me) that he is a one trick pony. When your one trick is so good, you don't need something else. Boy can move!
Here's the video:
Time to dance for their lives!:
Kourtni Lind - Solo Dance Song: "No Man" - Nina Storey
I liked this solo more than I liked hers last week. But it still isn't enough to really move me. Here's the video:
Grade: B
Matt Dorame - Solo Dance Song: "Sweet Contentment" - Bradley James and the Roadies
I enjoy Matt's solos. It seems to be the only time he feels comfortable on stage and the only time that he loosens up. We get to see his dance skills, but also his emotions. Here's the video:
Grade: B+
Courtney Galiano- Solo Dance Song: "What's Another Day" - Maria Mena
Courtney is pretty to watch when she dances in her own style, and she certainly has a good stage presence, but I am not sure she is original enough. Here's the video:
Grade: B+
Gev Manoukian - Solo Dance Song: "Everybody Loves a Carnival" - Fatboy Slim
Gev seems to understand the best of all these contestants what it means to dance for your lives. This was a good performance and my husband I agreed that they can not possibly send him home after that. Here's the video:
Grade: A
Here is the video of Kourtni, Matt, Courtney & Gev:
Comfort Fedoke - Solo Dance Song: "Hit the Floor" - Twista feat. Pit Bull
Comfort has danced for her life several times, and this was her best, in my opinion. I kind of feel like she doesn't always give her solos all she's got. This was more of an effort.
Grade: B+
Thayne Jasperson - Solo Dance Song: "I Want to Break Free" - Queen
This was a fun solo. Not sure how it stacks up against the other contemporary dancer here, Matt. Thayne looks like a happy guy, though, and I like that.
Grade: B+
Here is the video of Comfort and Thayne:
I apologize that the video of these dances was clumped together in just a couple of videos. I know it makes for longer viewing time. I just haven't figured out the video cutting on my own!
Our musical guest tonight is One Republic singing "Say (All I Need)" and it was good to see them back on the show after last year's performance of "Apologize" (before Timbaland got his hands on it). The performance was alright.
Now for the eliminations.
Nigel first goes on and on that the decision was tough and that the judges were not unanimous on their decision. Courtney is saved right off. While Nigel didn't think Comfort's solo warranted her staying, the other judges voted to keep her around. So Kourtni is the one eliminated.
They loved Gev's solo and he is sent on to safety. The decision was unanimous. The judges agreed that Matt has not had any growth and that he is sent home.
There apparently will be a lottery rush but no exact details yet.

Top 14 - Performance Night Judges: Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and Tabitha & Napoleon
Hey readers! It's me Linz, filling in again for Vance while he is in Germany. I am thoroughly excited about tonight's show, so here are my thoughts.
After last week's bridal garb, Cat is now dressed as the "groom" with bow-ties down the front of her black and white dress. Her hair is very old-fashioned looking, like a 1940s movie star. Love her! Tonight the dancers will each be performing TWO dances. Rock on! However, that means there is no down time (which is inconvenient for blogging purposes, but I am not disappointed about double the dancing). I am slightly concerned that doing double-duty this week will not allow for the dancers to be at the top of their game.
Jessica King and William Wingfield Performance #1: Style: Jive - Choreographed by Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin Song: "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie" - Five Guys Named Moe
Will is starting to really win me over. He was enjoyable to watch in this style. They did a couple of fun tricks. I don’t pay much attention to Jessica, which is a problem for her. Unless they get enough votes to carry them through to next week, my guess is that she would go home. Mary noticed some things that were off, and she was right that I was fooled, because I just didn’t see it. But the jive is so upbeat that it is easy for the casual viewer to miss certain technical mishaps.
Grade: B
Here's the video clip of Jessica and William's first performance:
Performance #2: Style: Lyrical Jazz - Choreographed by Mandy Moore Song: "Alone" - Heart
I worry about the use of props in any dance. And in this case it seems to be Will’s shirt! Oh goodness, Will’s body reminds me slightly of Danny’s last year. Goodness gracious sakes alive! Anyway, um… I really liked this one. There was smoking chemistry. And the use of the prop ended up working great. I loved how he threw her around the floor with it. This is the Mandy that I love. Will is JUST so good. I thought Jessica was actually really good on this one, too, even though I know it would be hard to be up there next to Will.
Grade: A
Here's the video clip of Jessica and William's second performance:
Comfort Fedoke and Thayne Jasperson Performance #1 Style: Broadway - Choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler Song: "Cool" - Bernstein & Sondheim (from West Side Story)
Thayne was much more of a Tony than Comfort was a Maria, but I found the performance enjoyable. It was hard not to think of the movie choreography to this song, but I felt like it worked pretty well. I think Nigel’s complaints were a bit more about the choreography than the dancers, in my opinion. I enjoyed Thayne more in this. Their chemistry was actually pretty good, since I didn’t expect them to have any. I give Thayne all the credit for that. I hope people go easy on them for being the only couple that has never danced together before. It was cool (yeah, I said that).
Grade: B+
Here's the video clip of Comfort and Thayne's first performance:
Performance #2 Style: Smooth Waltz - Choreographed by Edward Simon Song: "Hov Arek Sarer Jan" - New Age Armenia
Oh no. They got Smooth Waltz. This can be really bad for votes. Their dance is a story of long lost love. Luckily their chemistry is really good. I guess they were pretty good technically too, based on Mary’s comments. I agree with Tabitha that Thayne’s facial expressions often looks very phony. It was pretty to watch, but was it enough? I don't think so.
Grade: B+
Here's the video clip of Comfort and Thayne's second performance:
Kourtni Lind and Matt Dorame Performance #1 Style: Hip Hop - Choreographed by Cicely & Olisa Song: "How Do I Breathe" - Mario
I really wanted to like this because I like the two of them. But it was just not hip hop enough for me. They don’t hit it hard enough. I think with how tall they are, it makes it easier to see when they mess up. I am also not a fan of the hat-over-bandanna look that Matt has going on. These two are bound for the bottom 3.
Grade: B-
Here's the video clip of Kourtni and Matt's first performance:
Performance #2 Style: Mambo - Choreographed by Alex DaSilva Song: "Bon-Con-Tim" - Super All-Stars
I was worried when these two both commented on how hard the mambo was in practice. And watching the performance, I would agree that it looks really difficult. They were not in sync on a couple of parts and Kourtni sometimes looked like she was losing steam. Unfortunately, I never really felt like this went anywhere. I was in disbelief when Mary went on about how hot Kourtni was good. I didn’t think she was very good.
Grade: B-
Here's the video clip of Kourtni and Matt's second performance:
Chelsie Hightower and Mark Kanemura Performance #1 Style: Jazz - Choreographed by Mandy Moore Song: "Kiss Kiss" - Holly Vance
Based on the rehearsal footage I thought I would like this more, but I was kind of bored the first half. The second half got better, but maybe I just didn’t love the style of it. Which is a shame because I love Mandy Moore and love Chelsie and Mark. It felt like a bunch of running around the stage, and not as much dancing to me. However, the judges thought it was great.
Grade: B
Here's the video clip of Chelsie H. and Mark's first performance:
Performance #2 Style: Foxtrot - Choreographed by Edward Simon Song: "It's My Life" - Paul Anka
I was watching Mark most of the time because I expect Chelsie to do well. And he is so graceful when he wants to be. While I didn’t love her feathery dress, it was appropriate for the song style and looked nice up next to Mark’s vest and tie.
Grade: B+
Here's the video clip of Chelsie H. and Mark's second performance:
Kherington Payne and Twitch Performance #1 Style: Paso Doble - Choreographed by Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin Song: "Malaguena" - Brian Setzer 68 Comeback Special
This is a tough one to pull off, and Twitch will really have to utilize his manly side. But dangit if he doesn’t have a very nice torso!! Kherington looked gorgeous and played her part so well. I really liked this performance. The cape parts were fun and their bodies were so enjoyable to watch after they put them away. I thought they both did a very good job and were both so fierce (like, actually fierce, not just “fierce”). Now, the technical things that the judges point out flew right over my head.
Grade: B+
Here's the video clip of Kherington and Twitch's first performance:
Performance #2 Style: Contemporary - Choreographed by Mia Michaels Song: "Dreaming with a Broken Heart" - John Mayer
The performance is about heartbreak…on a bed. Twitch’s body is on display again. There is a lot of male torso out tonight. ☺ This was some really different choreography utilizing the mattress and the rose petals. It was sad. And I was glad to see that Twitch laid it on the line emotionally for this performance. Kherington was good, but the dance was so clearly focused on him.
Grade: A-
Here's the video clip of Kherington and Twitch's second performance:
Katee Shean and Joshua Allen Performance #1 Style: Contemporary - Choreographed by Mia Michaels Song: "Hometown Glory" - Adele
I don’t know what the meaning was behind this choreography. But it was so intense. Like VERY intense. The music really added to the emotion of this performance. Joshua’s physical strength was utilized here. And these two have a very good connection. I love Joshua, as usual (and it is adorable how he is emotionally affected by the dances, but I also don’t blame him). Did I mention that Katee is even growing on me a tad? I loved this!
Grade: A
Here's the video clip of Katee and Joshua's first performance:
Performance #2 Style: West Coast Swing - Choreographed by Season 2 Winner Benji Schwimmer Song: "Shake It" - Brother Yosef
Benji is such a ham. I adored Benji’s West Coast Swing last year for Pasha & Sara, so I had very high hopes on this one. I was a little disappointed. I wanted more energy (not including Josh’s huge jump across stage, which was infused with energy). The dance was cutesy and it just wasn’t what I expected. It was fine but not amazing for me.
Grade: B+
Here's the video clip of Katee and Joshua's second performance:
Courtney Galiano and Gev Manoukian Performance #1 Style: Hip Hop - Choreographed by Cicely & Olisa Song: "Lights, Camera Action!" - Mr. Cheeks
This dance style seemed very old school to me. I gotta give Courtney her due, she was good. I figure that since she is a Knicks dancer that she know show to get down and dirty. I was watching Courtney the whole time so I didn’t notice what the judges said was Gev’s lacking performance.
Grade: B+
Here's the video clip of Courtney and Gev's first performance:
Performance #2 Style: Broadway - Choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler Song: "New York New York" - Bernstein, Comden & Green
The story for this Broadway routine was “Tourists in New York,” which Courtney had a problem with, since she is a real New Yorker and clearly hates tourists. Their outfits were fun and their characters were believable. There were parts that should have been in sync that were not. There was a lot of energy in the dance. It was cute but nothing major.
Grade: B
Here's the video clip of Courtney and Gev's second performance:
Best Dance of the Night: Katee & Joshua's Contemporary Worst Dance of the Night: Kourtni & Matt's Hip Hop Favorite Individual Dancers: Joshua, Mark, Chelsie, Will Worst individual dancers: Thayne, Matt, Kourtni (I used to love her, but I don't think she has improved any) Dancers I Like Anyways: Thayne, Matt Dancers I Do NOT Like: No one at this point Bottom Three Predictions: Comfort & Thayne Kourtni & Matt Courtney & Gev (but it is a toss-up with Will & Jessica)
Both Damn Yankees and [title of show] opens this weekend, Saturday July 5th (finally!) in New York. That's got to be a bit awkward no? With Cheyenne Jackson (in Damn Yankees) always being thrown out of the the [title of show] show no? (GET OUTTA HERE CHEY-YENNE JACKSON...). Okay, I guess it was a puppet that threw him out and not actually Jeff or Hunter but still... AWWWWWWKWARD!
Damn Yankees opens this Saturday July 5th at the New York City Center for their Summer Stars Series (which begat the current Broadway production of Gypsy in last years version) which runs until July 27th 2008 (and I'm guessing with no room for extension since Jane Krakowski will have to return to 30 Rock and Cheyenne Jackson will return to Xanadu).
Look how cute this cast looks? (L-R: Randy Graff, Cheyenne Jackson, 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski, Sean Hayes) Look how beautiful they are. I'm so excited to see this! (More photos below after the jump)
[title of show] opens at the Lyceum Theatre for previews starting this Saturday after their long and exciting journey through the Fringe Festivals, Off-Broadway run, the [title of show] show on youtube, and making friends/out with everyone on Broadway (is there anybody who hasn't made a cameo? Who doesn't like these folks?)! It's FINALLY HERE! ON BROADWAY!
Look how cute this cast looks? (Clockwise from Left: Jeff Bowen, Hunter Bell, Heidi Blickenstaff, Susan Blackwell) Look how beautiful they are. I'm so excited to see this!
So let the battle begin! Or you know, just go see both!
Love Debra Messing and Eric McCormack but the picture above would make an interesting re-make of Will & Grace that I would definitely want to watch.
In case you never caught this video, here's the [tos] folks after the Tony Awards when they interviewed all the Broadway stars at the parties
Oh those crazy Germans. So I love the fact that their musical tastes here are a bit cheesier on this side of the Atlantic (with all that Eurodance stuff they love and all the great cheesy boybands) but I still had to laugh when the DJ at the wedding I was at this weekend in a small spa resort town of Bad Kissingen (super cute town filled with tons of old tourists, like the Florida of Germany), started to play the Numa Numa song.
Like the DJ from Love Actually, he was gunning for worst DJ ever.
If you don't know the Numa Numa song, there was that viral video of the guy singing it that made it famous and all I could picture was the video of that guy singing when the DJ played that song (after the jump)
As another sign of the apocalypse, I noticed a German version of Laguna Beach was playing here on TV.
In honour of our home and nation land, here's my favorite Canadians on TV because you know we are slowly taking over Hollywood (hehe) and that as a rule, there must be one Canadian on each show for it to be good. (Well, okay, the Australians and British are slowly taking over that rule but at least we are keeping it in the commonwealth). Though actually, looking below, seems like ABC is actually employing the most Canadians (as well as the Gays). I knew there was a reason why ABC is now my favorite network!
Sandra Oh as Christina Yang in Grey's Anatomy Emily Vancamp as Rebecca in Brothers & Sisters Luke MacFarlane as Scotty in Brothers & Sisters (who also made the Pride Edition! Gay AND Canadian!) Taylor Kitsch as Tim Riggins in Friday Night Lights Cobie Smulders as Robin Scherbatsky in How I Met Your Mother Joshua Jackson as Peter Bishop in the upcoming Fringe Donald Sutherland as Tripp Darling in Dirty Sexy Money Evangeline Lilly as Kate Austen in Lost Sarah Chalke as Dr. Elliot Reid in Scrubs Victor Garber as Jordan Wethersby in Eli Stone James Tupper as Jack Slattery in Men In Trees
Some Other Canucks: Plus Half the cast of Men In Trees including Sarah Strange, Suleka Matthews, Timothy Webber, Ty Olsson, Nicholas Lea and Currie Graham Natasha Henstridge as Taylor Wethersby in Eli Stone William Shatner as Denny Crane in Boston Legal Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in 24 Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang in Smallville Vik Sahay as Lester in Chuck Jeremy Ratchford as Nick Vera in Cold Case Tyler Labine as Bert 'Sock' Wysocki in Reaper Missy Peregrym as Andi in Reaper David Cubitt as Detective Lee Scanlon in Medium Tricia Helfer as Number Six in Battlestar Galactica Grace Park as Lt.
